So lets start off with i got a 2002 Lincoln LS v8, While i was trying to put down my window i heard a cracking sound then another and my window refused to go up, it would go down but not up. I believe it could be the regulator but not sure? Also wondering whats the best way in knowing if my coil overs/ spark plugs are going out, and where are they located on the this car?

1. Yes, you probably need to replace the window regulator.

2. Coil Overs are a suspension part, I believe. I am not familiar with them at all, but I can assure you that they have no relationship to the ignition.

3. The LS uses COPs. (Coil On Plug). There is one coil over each spark plug, for a total of eight. Four are on the left side of the engine, and the other four are on the right. They are more or less in the center of each valve cover, with a smaller "coil" cover over them.

4. Like the over topics above, symptoms of COP failure have been discussed a lot of this board. Do a little searching and read the stickys. Generally, you can best feel slight misfires while accelerating at moderate throttle position. Dealer's find marginal COPs by doing a stress test. If you have a Ford specific scan tool, you can do a KOER test and look at the misfire counts - that helps only sometimes.

The regulators (atleast the front) are very easy to replace (in and out in less than an hour)... If the the car or replacing the COP's are new to you, Most of us agree that its best to just go ahead and replace all of them (if thats your problem). Its a whole lot easier than chasing them around every month...

This site has a ton on info all all problems related toward your LS... Take some time and read through....

Good luck

Just got done putting my new regulator in today, Called my local ford/lincoln dealership they got it in less then 5 hours for me, Its installed fully and working wonderfully :D
Now i just got to see whats going on with the Coils. haha.......

Regulator plastic parts

Usually you do not need a regulator as the real problem is the plastic clips on the regulator break over time. You can order the plastic clips on Ebay, just replace the clips.

Often true, but this doesn't sound like the case from the OP's description. Now that the cord(s) are loose and have cross-wound on the spool of the regulator, it is best to replace it.

And that's what's happened to me every time! 1 more to go. I can change one in 45 minutes not though. :D
