I'm having a drive Train loud noise? It sounds like a metal on metal rubbing when driving down the road. Wife said to her it was coming from the left rear. My first thought was rear wheel bearing. I put the car in neutral and turned it off. I jacked the left side up and tried to spin the wheel. Well it still turns the rear end gear plus I can't spin it fast enough to see if it is the bearing. I need to replace all LCA's and associated parts. Could the noise be imparted to the frame because the front end ball joints and so on are worn out? I did notice when trying to turn rear tire that there is about 1/2 inch of play when you rock the wheel forward and backwards. Not side to side. I am just at a loss as to where this noise is coming from? How hard is it to replace the rear bearings?

a bad wheel bearing will wiggle in all directions. not just up and down, or left to right. so unless it wiggles all around, i say not wheel bearing.

also, the rear bearings have to pressed in and stuff. the upright has to be removed, not hard, but not fun.

I'm going to check frt. wheels. Most common is for the inner bearing to freeze in the hub.

It's a HUB! there are no "inner" or "outer" bearings on our cars.. Check your brake pads in the rear...common on these for the caliper guide pins to seize in the anchor bracket, one of your pads could be down to the metal

yeah. looks like this.

+1 on stuck caliper. happened on my car.

and while the tire is off, check all the bushings and stuff back there. the upper bushing on my knuckle had gone bad allowing some movement.

and then replace the front suspension. because it probably needs it anyway.

Is this pic of the rear or frt. Bearing?

Put the rear up on jack stands and put start it up and put it in drive... See if you hear the noise...

Damn red light runners!

Okay I was on my way to Discount tires to get a rotation and balance and right before Discount a lady runs the red light and just totaled my car!
Any one have any idea what to ask for in value?

i would start aty a million dollars and let them work me down to 2-3k

If they total my car I will have a bunch of parts to unload. I will offer them here first, before going to eBay. I will probably know something next week. Maybe I can buy it back out from salvage? But do I have the time to do the repairs?
