I am putting on a new LSC door bumper. What's best to buy double sided tape? Or some kind of RTV adhesive? I want something that bonds like the factory tape.

After you remove all the old stuff, clean the area with alcohol and use 3M

X2. Just take a piece of the old tape to the supply store and get the same width and thickness.
I use wax and grease remover to clean it but the point is to make sure its clean.
Gum wheel is the easiest way to get the.old tape off the body and a hair dryer or heat gun on the trim rolling the tape up with your thumb is what I found to work the best for the trim.

Greg, go to O'Reilly's, into the section where the bondo and stuff is at and you'll see the 3M adhesive located in that spot. It had a red plastic backing. If you need a picture of an unopened roll, let me know and I can show you one. I have two rolls out in the garage that I haven't used yet. Just make sure to clean the area real good where you're putting it and the back side of the piece. I used alcohol after I made sure all residue was removed when I done the 94. Some say not to do it but on the rear sections, I used the 1" wide white double sided tape made by 3M and it held very good and it also allowed the piece to attach closer to the car and didn't leave as much of a gap as the 3M 1/2" molding adhesive but I also used two strips on the top half because of it being only a 1/2" wide. If you're doing it on the black car, it goes unnoticed.

i have used a thin wire streched between two screwdrivers. use a putty knife to start the lifting then the wire. use a couple layers of masking tape to protect the finish of the bodie.

If you use wax and grease remover be 100% sure the pieces 100% dry. If that stuff is still inside the pores it'll bite thru the tape and it'll come off I've seen it happen. Hard head wouldn't listen to me and it came off about 2 weeks later.
We (at the body shop) don't use any kind of remover except a rubber wheel on a drill then use some 3M adhesion promotion wipes then once that's dry we put the 3M double side tape on. Good luck pulling it off once you do it like that.
We have expieremented with different tapes and 3M is the best no doubt.

+1 We do this at the body shop alot. Quicker to remove with a 3m adhesive remover disc. Should be at a local parts store.

Does anyone know what kind of double sided adhesive they used at the factory? As hard ad the moldings are to take off, it would be nice to find something as strong to bond it.

The 3M double sided tape really is the way to go Greg. I do not think the factory used anything but a double sided tape. If the area is cleaned and prepared properly it will not come off and it will be just like factory.
