Has anyone ever come up with a method to repair broken mounting tabs on the inside of a gen II door panel ? I have one with three broken tabs that some idiot must have tried to pry off instead of lift off. Thanx Bruce

I had exactly the same problem and found that if I used padded, two-sided sticky tape along the vertical edge where the piece wraps around on the window side it worked really well. It is seriously irritating, though, I know. I had to go into my doors three times and these were already broken when I got there and one of the main tabs on the trim ring around the door handle.

No, just find another door panel is the only way I know. You know Ford still sells door panels, but they are expensive.

Use a piece of aluminum foil and make a bottom/side mold of the hooks on the passenger door. Tape this to where you need the hook on the other panel and pour some fiberglass resin in the mold. You can add glass for regitity with small pieces and just tap them into the mold with a popsicle stick. You can buy all you'd need and have PLENTY to spare for about $30

Omg I hate this phone

You can go this route but...

I agree with GMAN on this one. Start searching for the right door panel Switch & VOILA! Done! Then if you want to play with your old door panels & try to fix them that's fine & keep them as spares. Hell I think everyone on this forum has spares! :shifty: Umm don't we?

I have some in light tan whatever color it is. Was gonna dye them auqa for my 93 but it died :(

How and where would you go about buying them from Ford?..something tells me you can't just walk up to the parts counter at your local ford dealer and buy 19 year old door panels..I would love to find brand new door panels for my 95...what kind of price are we talking about when you say "expensive"?

And yes I already know about the ones for sale on ebay..they don't have the drivers side in my correct color combo.

I have a panel that is in the same conduction I was going to grind smooth the rest of the hooks and fabricate my own then try to bolt them on to the door panel...... or screw through it. But that was just some brain storming. I haven’t yet tried to do anything with them.

Keep us updated on what you come up with.

There are some brand new oem panels on ebay for about $150

Not sure who you were responding to but if you were talking to me I know about the door panels the company out of green bay wi sells..they have a limited selection of door panels...they don't have he one I need unfortunately. I still would like to know what Gman is talking about when he says new door panels are still available through ford.
