Door latches

what happens when you try to shut the door does it just open on its own? if the latch mechanism was pushed closed with the door open, say with a screw driver or something, the latch clasp will have to be manually released before you try to shut the door. i'm not sure what you mean by it wont hold the door shut.

Or if the door shuts but pops partially open but is latched just not tight, you may want to just realign the door pin back some to allow for full closure.

It closes but does not clasp the door striker I was gonna try and latch it manually I lubed it up tonight and pulled car in garage to thaw below -0 temps and the place he bought the car from washed it and put it outside immediately I drove it about 15 miles holding door shut I got the door to latch once today and that was it

they are all the same, why not try some penetrating oil in the mechanism first it may be frozen

i see where you are from, and we had some issues with ours freezing up and not working as well. try and warm it up and see what happens.

Happened to me down here in Houston. We don't usually get so cold down here, but a couple of days ago, after I opened the door, it wouldn't close. Luckily I keep a screw driver in the back seat pocket. I had to align the latch and open and close the door a couple of times. It has since warmed a bit and I haven't had that problem.
