I have one small gripe about the LS. I hate the door handles. They stick out so far from the door. They also seem very cheap. The ones on my back doors are messed up from my kids yanking on them when the doors are still locked. There's no way I will ever be able to shave them. Anyone have any other thoughts?

You're gonna think I'm nuts, but I have a very short temper. My rear driver's side handle stuck out like someone tried getting in while the door was locked. I would unlock the doors with the remote and that lock would lock/unlock a few times very quickly. Pissed me off to no end. Then one day I bashed the handle with my fist, and it's been fine since. :D

As they say "when in doubt, bang it out!"

Why can't you shave them? I was actually going to start a thread to see if anyone had shaved the door handles on the LS. It would look slick that's for sure.

brokels... IMO the sickest LS ever had shaved handles

best thing with the LS is you don't need a pop door kit, we have Remote Window Down feature on our Key FOB

:edit: I don't know why I said we...I still fill like I have my LS (Damn I Miss It)

The door handles are designed for a gloved hand to be able to open them.

I was going to do shaved door handles once I put in suicide rear doors (since I'll be repainting the car anyways :P

yeah but remember we have remote window down option on our key FOB

consider pop door kit though (pretty cheap to come by here in Houston)

Yeah but I don't want to have to open my door through the window EVERY time I get into the car. Especially since as soon as I get in the car I'll have to roll them all back up and close the sunroof.

 You sir are funny. My wife is bigger than me.

I always thought shaved handles and removing the side trim would make it very smooth

could do what they did on pimp my ride and have the magnet key.....where the magnet unlocks the door :P

OK, so the other day the door handle stuck in the out position. I was pissed so I hit it. .. hard. There was a crunch noise and some part inside the door obviously broke. I could hear what sounded like plastic dropping down into the door. I was sure that it was broken for good. The funny thing is, it now works perfectly! The handle operates just right and pulls itself back into the flush position just like it should.

my drivers door did the same last year. When i park on a hill i hear the plastic piece sliding inside the door. The door handle has a loose feel to it but still works.

My daughter broke the rear passenger side last weekend so i figure one day i will be forking out some $$$$ to get all the door handles fixed.

Has anyone ever seen aftermarket alternate handles that fit closer to the door?

I would think you could use a closer fitting OEM handle from another car like say a Mark 8. I wouldn't think it'd take too much work to hook it all up. I'm about ready to rip off my rear handles and put duct tape over the holes, I'm tired of them sticking out! I don't care if they work or not anymore.
