First of all, I'm getting pissed off.

Second of all, can someone call me and tell me the right way to put a freakin door handle in a first gen??

I have the handle assembled and ready to go in, but I cant put the lock rod in if I have the handle counterweight in, and I cant put the handle counterweight in if I have the lock rod in, It's boggling the heck out of me!!! I've been at this almost 2 hours! The stupid clip that clips to the lock cylinder I think I have taken care of once I get the handle in... I can just rotate it up and clip it. But Jeeeeze...

Maybe I've been at it too long and can't see the obvious...

Someone please gimme a shout

Thank you.

Well, just as I suspected... I take a break, take a step back and find a way. Had to point the handle rod towards the inside of the door and convince the handle to go in. Other than that it was cake. I know now never to do another one, lol.

Also got my replacement passenger fender put on. so even though it's another color the car is actually 98% straight now!

i used to have the same problems with door handles back in the day but they are cake to take out and put in now, once you do a few, you can do them blind.

isn't that crazy how that works? cant figure it out ,try, try, try, then go back it works like magic...i've done that on many occasions over the years,

glad you got it done

Thanks guys, I was SERIOUSLY considering "modifying" my new handle... but perservered and was able to just try something... and sure enough, As soon as I posted that I needed help, I went right back out there and got it in on the first try. I was like WTF?? Why couldn't you do that before dummy!?

It turned out to be a great weekend, 80 degrees, sunny, and I can finally get in the drivers side of my car for the first time in 5+ months!!

AND, I put on my replacement fender I picked up from a junkyard. So even though it's white metallic and my car is midnight opal It still looks a ton better without a beat up fender on it. I'm pretty darn happy. My ebay win should come in a few days as well...

Now if I had good front struts and a new compressor and a rebuilt front end, It would be a brand new car!

Believe me, I'd love to...

I have all but 2 bushings for the front end, and in Poly no less...

All I need are new upper and lower C/A's and a new steering rack with new tie rod ends and I'll hit it hard and get it done... but until then I just hear "ka-thunk ka-thunk ka-thunk"

Edit: and I cant forget about struts, lol
