I own a 93' lincoln mk8 and my computer display always shows "door ajar" and won't display anything else being it thinks the door is open. does anybody know where the sensor is or has anyone had this happen to them? I have no idea how to go about this.

Lol. Deja vu. As other post. The micro switches are in the latch mechanisms. They get sticky and usually can be freed up ok.

so i have to take apart the metal latch mechanisms and spray some wd-40 in there ?

No! Just spray the latches liberally with a decent penetrating oil and open and close the door a few times. Message should be gone. PB Blaster oil worked better for me than WD 40 and the message hasnt returned in 5 months.

alright, thank you so much....that "door ajar" has been pissing me off for the past year...and ive just been to busy (and lazy) to fix it

:W Dont know much about the Contis but it is likely the same thing. Certainly worth a shot before you go stripping stuff! Lol.

WD 40 Does the job my buddys said it with him and the two people who had it spray some and now no more door ajar. WOO HOO!!!!

i sprayed mine every day for a week it. it didnt work.alot of fomoco vehicles have the exact same doohicky in the latch mechanism. i wound up unhooking it. no more bothersome display! just unhooked it. dome light still works and it still dings when i open the door with the key in the ignition.
