i dont know, but going from a big block chevy 5.7 liter engine v8 to this, the sound is just.....well quiet...when i start it up it has a whine as if its a freakin 4 cyclinder and under acceleration whines like its a little 4 or 6. Is it my engine or do these engines sound nothing like a v8 and have a vague "whine" to them?

well - the sound of mine (even before the supercharger) is definitely a American V8 - mustang-ish but little more euro. Loud - may be too loud for some.

I think the low noise level on this LS V8 is actually a good thing. Makes it slick and elegant.

Flowmaster's? Come on, guys

I absolutely love flowmasters, expecially on my '00 expedition, but if you ever take a car with flows on the highway for a few hours at a time, the droning sound gets OLD. THat's why I can appreciate the quiet clean sound of the LS.

new motors are quiet. new f150's with the v8's are silent. i'm guessing its new technology plus i try to roll around stealth

I've had them for a couple years, interior noise is not a problem you can barely hear them. They're not as loud as you'd think on this car... nice burble to them.

Last I checked, the 350 was a small block, not a big block ( ;) ), but in answer to your question, my '06 V8 definitely sounds like a V8--especially at idle.

The more basic question is: What does a V8 sound like?

While having only the number of cylinders in common, many V8s sound different. A Corvette V8 is going to sound different than a Ferrari V8 or an Aston Martin V8 or a Lincoln V8.

I think the answer is that V8 sounds like its going to sound, but if you want a different sound, modifying the exhaust is probably the easiest way to do it.

Open up the exhaust and the intake. It will definitely get louder.

What you will never get is the thump thump of a 5.7 with a lumpy cam. Not gonna happen with this car. But if you mod it right it will be very sweet in it's own right.

Remember it is a luxury car so Lincoln made it real quiet.

Just look at the noise cancellation chambers on the stock intake (2003 and newer V8):

Now look at the new intake:

I also put Magnaflow mufflers/tips on (will go to the full Magnaflow cat back when it ships:

The nice thing is that under cruise it does not "drone". At idle it definitely has a deep rumble. At wide open throttle it Howls like a banshee...

If you want the sound of the 5.7 you should have kept it. If you mod this car right you will learn to appreciate the sweetness/refinement of the 3.9...

Good luck!

oh dont get me wrong but the quietness is nice, but i guess ill start w/ the intake, didnt know it had that much cancellation on it....thanks guys, i was looking at exhausts, are they all about 700-800 for full back?

Yes, but well worth it. No bends in the tubing, nice finish and it goes all the way up to the cats! NO RUST!!! Not to mention the cool factor.

check ebay and your local muffler shop (if they do good work) you can probably find it cheaper than 700-800.

I got mine for $650 shipped from www.performancepeddler.com

There is an option to "make an offer". Try it and wait for a response. You may not get that price, but you will save money.

I can say there is a definate difference in sound between a F-body and a Mustang's V8. Always has been.

32Vs seem to sould different than 16Vs. Also when the muffler is at the bumper with no pipe behind it vs. the mufflers under the car with tail pipes also makes for a different sound. I started my LSE with the cat-back off...sounded just like a V-8 should.

A 350 is a small block, why does everyone always say they have a big block??? You want a big block Lincoln, go buy a 460 <---"Real-life, non-imaginary BIG BLOCK":)
