Does anyone else have this decal?

Tried using a heat gun to pull it off, but it seems like something else is backing it on there.

I'll try in the morning. It doesnt really affect me much. it seems to be factory since the pin stripes are cut evenly around it.

all the pin stripes on cars are from the dealer typically at least. I know there was a guy that came into the dealership I was at about once a month and would pin stripe a bunch of cars all day. Now I am sure some cars have it done at the factory, but a lot of appearance accessories are added at the dealer.

Definitely NOT from the factory. There was no such thing as a factory limited edition, presidential, "X" of "X" numbers or any other kind of "special" model; other than the LSE. All pinstripes, medallions, etc. are dealer add-ons. My LS had a maroon pinstripe on it when I bought it. Fortunately it was tape and I had it off within 6 months. I tried to like it, I just couldn't.

How'd you get it off without damaging the paint?

As it was tape it peeled right off. It came off pretty easy which leads me to believe the selling dealer had it installed. There was also no paint fading under the tape leading me to believe it wasn't on there very long.

Neither one of my LSs had a pinstripe. I had a Crown Vic LX that had a factory pinstripe actually painted on.

You left out carriage top.

Car's don't come from the factory with pinstripes.. Period.

All of them are added by dealers.. Why? Who knows. I used to have to install them all the time...

MY LS had one too. Removed it immediately.

Dealers will also make their own "special edition" packages, which are no more than graphics and pinstripe packages that they have installed as well..

Walk into any dealer today and try to find a car or truck on the lot that doesnt have 1K of dealer crap on the window sticker. Secure etch, pin stripe, nitrogen, paint protectant, interior protectant, undercoating, sealers, etc are all crap to increase dealer profits.

you know, I think ford or lincoln would understand, if I wanted a car full of stickers, I would have bought a Honda!

Some of the decal stuff is also to appeal to people. Back 10-20 years ago pin striping was popular. Picture 2 exact cars next to each other other than pin striping and "higher options" a guy may see that car because the pin stripe and other dealer stuff made it pop out more. I think in recent years this is not the case.

Same with the carriage top, a lot of people used to like that some time ago so to help a car appeal to the older demographic the dealer would add it to a couple cars on the lot. Again this is going away which is why you don't see it so often.

A lot yes is added to mark up the price for the unknowing buyer. A big thing some dealerships do is the simonizing treatment which would run someone 500-800 dollars, this was 5 years ago, no idea the cost now. They would tell the buyer it was a 6-9 month wax against everything. I used to put it on, I tried it on my car and it may have lasted a month tops. It didn't cost us that much to buy and took no longer than a typical waxing other than it was supposed to stay on the car 24 hours. So the dealer makes a quick 400 or so after product and laybor.

They always have something
