I disconnected the harnesses from my message center buttons while the car was running. Now I have a dinging under the pass side dash, goes away and comes back. Not so annoying but it needs to go.

What causes this?

How do I get rid of the dinging?

I plugged everything back in after shutting the car off. I noticed it right away.

Why? Pointless!! But why.. . I don't understand the reasoning.

I'll go ahead and guess nobody's done this.

It's the same rythem as the door dinger/chime, but it's not the same chime. They both exist when car's on and door's open. It will ding about 6 times then go away. Half hour of driving it comes back. Stereo can drown it out but I'd like it gone.

Sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks.!

Air bag warning. If the air-bag lamp goes out, it dings instead. Since you disconnected the buttons is it safe to assume you disconnected the harness for the lights too?

YES! That'd be the problem. See, I have a new steering wheel to put on, and, my clock spring's f'd. I don't have time, and wanted to get rid of the airbag light so I didn't have to watch it flash forever. With limo tint, it gets really annoying at night.

So theoretically I either fix my clock spring, watch a blinking light, or have a ding?

Thanks!

I'll paint the bulb black. You think these bulbs get hot?

I really don't want to replace my clockspring before I replace my steering wheel.

You could paint it, its not on all the time, just four flashes followed by two (I think) and then off for a bit to "cool down". What's the worst that could happen - the paint comes off. I dont think you'll end up with a flaming warning light!
