Alright, some of you may know, or may not, I am rebuilding my engine. In short, driver side head was bad, cam ate it up. So, I am looking to buy some 96-98 used cobra heads possibly , since they have better exhaust cams, or is it intake? Also they have better springs, beehives? What did the pre 96 Marks have? Are these direct bolt on without any mods? Thing is, my brother took the passenger side head from the mark and already took it to the machine shop with the block. The head was resurfaced, has new valve seats and new valve stems. So, should I buy a used mark head for cheap, and have him take it to the shop to get the same done to it, or buy used cobra heads and have the same done to them? He has helped me on the car and I don't want him to spend alot of money, but he doesn't mind and likes the mark ever since I got mine. So, I am at a loss. :shifty:

B heads in the Cobra is the same as the B heads in the Marks. The difference is the cams in the cobra. I believe it is only the exhaust cam that is different. I have heads for sale you know. :shifty:

Your on my contact list right now, you know. Patience.

Yeah I hear so many things as to if there is or is not a difference between the two cams. So many sites post defferent specs as fact its hard to really know unless you know how to measure them.

The one thing they all seem to agree on is the Mark has a split pattern intake cam and the Cobra does not.
Other then that the heads are the same and if the exhaust cam isnt the same its close enough to not matter.

I would ditch the B heads and go with "C" heads and be rid of the IMRCs and go with the Mah1 intake. Keep your current valve covers and keep the coil packs.

+1 on going with the C heads. I would go with 03-04 Cobra heads, 96-98 Cams and either an 99-01 Cobra or Mach 1 intake. If you can't find a set of 03-04 heads that fit your budget the 99-01 Cobra heads are the same design but don't flow quite as well as the newer design.

ok, so will C heads bolt onto the mk? i guess what my question is, is what would need to be done to swap over to C heads and mach 1 intake?

I am not sure if the gain is worth the pain.
b heads work.
Switching to c heads is not a snap.
If it was me I would get Gman's heads and put the car together.

What your plans are for the car.
Street/strip. DFL has nice b head time slips.
Its a strong combo for the street.
So many mods go in front of a head swap.

Its only worth swapping to C heads if a positive displacement blower is in the future planned mods.
