Alright Im finally getting a spare 03+ grille to customize, I wanna know what you guys think and hopefully a couple of you can shed some advice because similar things have been done with them. Basically Im opting for the 03-04 Cobra grille delete style, just big openness. Instead of the Cobra emblem Im going to use the classy V8 emblem pictured below. The brace in the middle of the opening(part of the actual hood will be cut out. The Lincoln star will be sanded down and smoothed over, I believe JWerner did this? Might have to get hood pins because from just glancing at it, looks as if youd be able to reach right in and pull the release, which hood pins wont fix but whatever. What do you guys think?

I think it would look good if you could "float" the Lincoln logo (or V8 logo) in the middle of the opening, much like the Mustang emblem in the photo you show.
 
I dunno... I kinda like the LS vertical grilles... They just make the front end a a true lincoln... And it looks classy/luxury, not sure how an LS would look with a floating emblem like that... I am interested as to how you would do this though

ive been temped to cut out the brace in the middle of the hood, when you take the grille off it reminds me of a bmw, whole new design - im sure it would be good for air flow into the engine
 
i always thought a sunken look like the grill is back in side of the hole and the side of it leading in would be body color

Thats what I was thinking. What about one of those cobra stars? you get a cobra and the lincoln star. Maybe paint the red part of the cobra star black and leave red eyes on it.
 
Dont want it to seem too much like a wanna-be Mustang, otherwise Id have the cobrastar emblems already. I love how they look, just cant do them on my car. Maybe a small decal on the rear window someday.
 
IMHO, if you cut the brace you will loose substantial structural front rigidity. The top of the hood, above the brace, could easily collapse with very little pressure; like when you push down to close the hood. Just paint it black and it will blend with the radiator.

Go with a stainless mesh to replace the "waterfall".

I agree with LS4me on the brace, just paint it black to hide it. If you look closely at that mustang pick you posted it looks like that one has it but its just painted black. Sounds like a cool project. Good luck. keep us updated
 
I'm having trouble visualizing what you are talking about. Can't wait to see it though.
 
Instead of having the waterfall on the grill or going with a mesh or mclaren, he want to removed the waterfall and leave just a big hole there like the mustang shown. He is going to mod something up to be able to put the v8 logo in the center to make it look like its floating in the middle.

It sure is. It's now my daughter's LS so she gets it. I'm looking for mesh to convert my '06 grille.
