wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would love to update my gauge cluster to the gen II.Was it hard to do?Did the milage stay the same with the new cluster? For a 2000 your cars got some slick updates.PROPS!!!!!to ya

is that navigation unit from a LS as well? factory unit?

That is the factory unit. I noticed the satellite loss symbol is lit.

That had to be some expensive work! Not only do you need the cluster (and all the NAV hardware), you need to get the two non-compatible computer protocols to interface. If the whole computer system was swapped out, still very expensive!

The bigger question is does every thing work as designed?

I might be wrong but those do not look like gen II gauges. I could be wrong though because my eyes are not what they use to be. Clean looking LS though.

Those are the same gauges that I have in my 2000. The surround is different though.

Some pic's are of my original 00 guage cluster before I switched to the 04 cluster, the car is a work in progress and new pic's are added to the old ones as I upgrade so sorry for the confusion.

YES, everything works as designed. No computers were swapped out and it was not expensive. The satellite symbol was lit because I tried using an aftermarket GPS antenna before I acquired an original Ford GPS antenna.
All in all it only cost me $125 for the Navigation System. I happen to be very good with electronics and purchased a non working dash unit and DVD drive w/nav DVD disc for $50. Once I repaired the dash unit I purchased the THX amp, voice control microphone, GPS antenna, wiring connectors and then I made my own wiring harness. My only regret is having to switch my glove box back to the original (I had the CD changer in the glove box) so I could mount the Nav DVD module there.

So how did you het the computers to understand each other? The '03+ components use a different protocol.

Dude, the guage cluster is mechanical (It unplugs from the electronic circuit board). It is the same for both Gen 1 & Gen 2 only a different face plate is used. *****If you try this yourself for pete's sake use a grounding strap when working with electronic components, static electricity may not seem like much but it can damage electronic components.

The cluster's are not supposed to work with each other as well, there was another thread on here about that.

Ummmmmm... That would make it electronic. Mechanical gauges would have a cable that plugs into the rear of the speedo.

ahhh maybe it is a 02 thunderbird cluster. I don't know much about if they changed in 03 with the LS as well or if they started out a year before the 03 LS.

Nice clean looking LS. I like the gauge cluster mod. Mice touch.

So wait are the headlamps off of a European LS? What's different about them compared to an American one?

He said they have a extra bulb for daytime lamps built in, if you look at the picture it looks like there is a extra bulb in the top of the highbeam dome.

The european LS headlamps have an extra bulb above the high beam bulb and the corner bulb behind the amber lense is a single filiment bulb for turn signal only no park lamp. It also has a motorized aim adjustment on the driver's side headlamp. On european LS's the flat area below the trunk & fuel door release switches add a switch to control the aim of the driver's side headlamps.
