The cruise does not work on my car. The light dont light up to indicate that it was turned on. Is there a fuse and where is it located? Any other suggestions on how to fix it I am open to. Thanks Eric

how long have you owned it, because there is a recall on it, and a previous owner may have had it disconnected until it could be fixed.

I checked the recall and there was none for this car. I have only owned it for about a month. They guy that owned it before me owned it since june and he bought it off the original owner. Where would you un-hook it at so I can check there? Thanks Eric

take the pass front wheel off, remove the inner fender liner and you will see the valve block next to the air suspension compressor bracket with the cruise control deactivation switch threaded into it, see if it is unplugged if it is, chances are the recall was never done and the new harness isnt installed, at that point, leave the liner out and put the wheel on and take it to ford, its free.

I will do that tomorrow. I need cruise from my trip I am going to take. These cars dont like to maintain one speed or maybe its my foot that doesn't. LOL Thanks Eric

yup there was 3 stages to the recall:
disconnect (to prevent fire while ford made the harness)
install new jumper/or new switch if leaking
replace faulty jumper (fused on the wrong side :slam) with a double fused jumper
theres threads with pics on here do some digging for recalls and you will find what you need

Now when I bought this car the cruise didnt work and the door light was on. My question is where does the cruise light located in the dash, idiot light area or the message center? The recall was done to the car I believe. The wire has an 6in extension on it. It does not have fuses in the wiring if it is supposed to. It was plugged in also. Any other suggestions? did they have fuses for the cruise back then? Thanks Eric

sounds like you got the new style switch, harness wont have fuses. the only fuse for the cruise that i can think of off the top of my head is the same one for the brake lights, and you would know if that was popped cuz it wont come out of park

did you check to make sure the linkage is even snapped on the ball stud on your throttle body? the cable could be snapped, or the cruise servo is just plain dead.

Isnt there a light on the dash indicating that the button was pushed? If that light up then I would look at the linkage. I have snapped the throttle and they both seem to move. Thanks Eric

its very possible that the servo quit. i wouldnt think it is common, but if you knew how many cruise servo's we have sold in the last 11 years, its very common. everyone who has ever asked us for a cruise servo never called back after installing it saying it didnt fix it. i am not sure how you can go about testing the servo, but someone might know.

The servo is located in front of the driver's side front tire behind the inner fender shield. There is a flow of diagnosis to check it, but I don't know it off the top of my head. Also don't know how much a new one is either. I have always put used ones on.

usually its the buttons or the brake switch that ive seen fail. try this:
unplug the wires going the the cruise switch (the one you checked the other day for the recall) and jump it with a paperclip then wrap it in electrical tape (it will have power going through it so you dont want that to short out) and tuck it up outta the way and test the cruise if it works then you need the cruise deactivation switch
if it still dont go hit the on button repeatedly and the same with set, sometimes the switches get gunked up
also does the horn work is there and airbag light on?

The horn works and the air bag light is not on. I thought clock spring at first too. If you could dig up a wiring diagram that would be great. Thanks Eric
