Coming home today from running some errands, I began to hear a creek sound coming from the rear on both ends. It sounds exactly like bad ball joints except that its only audiable when driving on bumpy roads and not when turning. Any thoughts?

Not very specific, but sway bar end links and bushings are pretty common problems.

i broke an exhaust hanger in my wreck; that sounded like a rear suspension issue

Sway bar links & brackets.

spray silicone spray generously on sway bar brackets & links twice a day for 2 days! Then only the links or the brackets once a day, for 1 day. Then no spray for 2 days. You should confirm which are bad. Or just take the real good advice is change front & read sway bar links same time, cheap & easy. Hardest part jacking car removing wheels!

If you have a creek from the rear I would check the drain tubes for the sunroof. If you have a creak I would check suspension parts.

so the front sway bar links are not holding anything together with any sort of compression?

Haha. Indeed you got me there. I found the links for $40 but can't seem to find the bushings. Anyone knows where they sell them?

Well I guess it is the swaybar links/bushings. Lots of thuds/clanging when turning sharply.

LCA bushings. I have a topic on it, with pictures and videos. Look at my profile, click statistics, and Find all threads..

See if you can replicate the creak by rocking the car when parked. Open the door and use it for leverage. Creaks are most likely caused by the sway bar rubber bushings. If silicone spray doesn't work remove the bushings and lube them with silicone grease.

Worn sway bar links are noisy when they are NOT under load. I.e. going straight. They get quiet when they are under load like making a turn.

I would look at ball joints and shocks. If it were in the front I would look at the steering components too.

You probably need new shocks as well, and that could be the cause of the creak. I remember seeing a pic of your car dragging pretty low.

I had the car taken in today to change the muffler, turned out from the amount of salt they used on the roads in the winter ate through the wall and left a nasty gaping hole (no pun intended). As far as everything else goes, shocks need to be done, stabilizer links look OK, bushings still need to be looked at. The drivers side ball joint needs to be replaced (again) after being replaced twice shortly after buying the car. Passenger side ball joints holding up just fine. Had the upper right control arm replaced in January. Tie-rods are good, had them replaced less than a year ago.

Yeah. Performing a bounce test yields no sign of bad shocks, but if I have my 180lb brother sit in the back seat, the wheel well wall is just barely above the actual wheel. While I have no cases of the tire rubbing against the wall, I know its something that needs to be looked at. The previous owner was very negligent with maintenance.
