I wonder what this little jewel will cost? It is supposed to appear soon as a motor and the wiring/computer harness.

"Ford Racing announced this week at the Performance Racing Industry show that they will be offering a 3.5L EcoBoost crate engine. This Revolutionary EcoBoost V6 engine delivers 365 HP and 420 lb. ft. of torque. (11/28/2012)"

About 450 lb dry. Would tuck pretty far back in a Mark VIII, always good to lighten the front ... not like a dirt bike. ;)

I'm surprised I'm the only one who finds this interesting. The 5 liter modular motors are a bit more powerful but weigh about 100 lbs more.

I imagine it will not be cheap. Still, direct injection, twin turbos and variable valve timing makes a very potent package. Lots of torque, impressive HP and 30 mpg.

I have thought about this swap ever many times with also the 5.0 swap (Can only dream). And with the weight difference compared with the M8 and AWD Taruus SHO I can see the MPG being even better. Anywhere from 5-10 miles better could be possible.

I'm allergic to V6's. :D

Any body knows the dry weight of the DOHC/4.6
These are the weights that I could find for the three engines.

4.6 DOHC: 473-525-550 LBS The 473 is the weight Ford Racing had for the 4.6 Aluminator. And the other two weights I got from other sites.
5.0 Coyote: 444 LBS
3.5 Ecoboost: 449 LBS with turbos alone.

If I had an LS I would think about that swap.

+1. In my mind, it would be more suited to an LS for some reason. Don't get me wrong, I like the sound of boosted V6's, and even boosted 4-bangers, but it just doesn't seem like the sound that SHOULD be coming from a Mark VIII. That being said, I'd LOVE to have an LS with that in it. American car with an American engine that would totally freak out the import guys.

Speaking of the Coyote 5.0 in a Mark VIII... now that would be my kind of ride!

Fully dressed (as seen in the pic), 505 lbs. That was without any fluids, but I can't recall if that was with or without the weight of the skid. It's been over a decade since I put one on the scale.

That sounds about right without the skid; the aluminum block, right?
