Couple issues with the 96LSC

So I finally got my car back last night. New front end. suspension and brakes. WOW! the car feels and rides incredible!!!!:D However I have a couple issues.

1. The steering does not return to center, at all. Thinking Rack?

2. The car stumbles while ideling...ALOT. It did it once or twice before but now it does it at every red light. Car stumbles and almost stalls. I had the fuel filter replaced while my guy was at the other work. I always use Mobil 93 for gas. I am going to remove the LMS Chip and run the stock program and see if that might have something to do with it. I am going to drive the car untill most gas is gone then fill it up and put in some fuel injector cleaner.
My guy did say that there is a AAC (ACC or something like that) sensor that is close to failing and everything else was within normal parameters. He couldn't get one of these sensors from the autopart store or the dealer. Smoked too much weed in my life to remember what he told me but it is written down at work and I can get the info at some point.

Did it do this before the work? My 97 did that when I got it. Every time I turned, I would have to manually turn the wheel back to straight, instead of it doing it itself.
I bought it with a broken ball joint so I had to fix that before I even drove it. I then replaced all the rest of the control arms and it still did it. Then, I went to get it aligned, and the alignment fixed it. I've read a few posts by other people where something like this was fixed by getting an alignment too.
That's where I would start.

it did do it before but not as bad. I had an allignment done. Hmmmm? Not sure.
 
All the ball joints are brand new... they might need to wear in a tiny bit...

As far as the idle issue put the tuning back to stock... that would be my first step if the plugs and wires were new.
 
i think i read somewhere that if it still does not return after ball joint replacement, that the rack needs to be replaced.
 
Try loosening and re-torquing the outer tie rod ends. That's what the service manual suggests.

Rack replacement suucks big time. Dropping/lowering the cradle is the easiest way.
 
The car is ideling really rough. Almost stalls then goes to about 700rpms then down again. It is doing this rather smoothly and with no noise. When I shift from drive to Neutral the rpm's jump up to 1500 and sit there for a few minutes.
I have removed the CHIP and it still does this. Any other suggestions?
 
Have you checked for codes? Most parts stores will pull them for you. Sounds like an IAC(idle air control) issue to me. Check all vacuum hoses. After checking for codes, pull battery cables and let set for 10-15 min to reset PCM and see what happens.

My 93 does the same thing sometimes, not constant so I have not messed with it. I do have a new IAC but I'm waiting to pull trans before I mess with it.
 
I second the IAC. That might be what your guy was telling, it controls the idle speed when the car isnt moving. From what I hear its a real PITA for a gen 1.
 
The guy was actually saying the ACT (the sensor in the snorkle) is close to being out of spec.
No codes, I have my own scanner for such an occasion.

I pulled the chip and it ran rough for about 30 mins. The next morning I put in fresh gas. After a few more starts the car ran super smooth. Beautiful!!! So after about 50 miles of care free driving I decided to pop the chip back in. Instant rough idle. I pulled the chip and it ran rough for about 2 key cycles than ran fine. I am going to run without the chip for the next few runs and see what's up. If it is fine then I will try the Chip again and see what is up.

I also think the guy put the height sensors in the wrong location for the front end. It appears to be at ride height when parked. And the car doesn't feel level. He is going to take the car tonight and adjust the sensors tomorrow and have the car re-aligned. Hopefully the re-allignment will free up the steering. He says the rack looks fine - no leaks. Says that mechanicaly the car is perfect.
 
if all is mechanically sound then its the caster thats out (thats what centers the wheel) so the alignment should fix it

Yeah!!! Just got the car back from the allignment shop and had the guy reposition the height sensors. Holy Cow Turds Batman!:D :D :D :D :D :D

So in love with this car right now. So much like a new car.:D :D :D :D :D
Now to put on my rims and ASHAM8 this weekend. Look for pics later on. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
Had to tell the company no more unpaid overtime from me. in at 7 out at 2:30 every day and NO WEEKENDS ANYMORE. I was convinced my boss had told my mechanic to take his time so they could get more out of me.

It still has a very minor stumble that comes up every now and then but pulling no codes. I'll start by replacing the IAC and checking for vacuum leaks.
