Just curious if any of you have had better result's with certain brand's.

There are some United Ignition ones on ebay for 25 shipped (32~ via rockauto). The other's I was checking out were the Ac Delco's for 36 to my door, Standard Brand for about 34 or NGK for 40~.

Autozone has a set of Dura's for $44, everyone else local has them for $6 each($48~).

Does it really matter? Seem's like it would be pretty hard to screw up something so simple.

I've been told there might be some resistance issues with the aftermarket ones... Apparently there is something inside the boot that causes a specified resistance. I have NOT seen these proven to me but I just figured I would let you know what I heard. I wound up putting Ford COP boots on mine.

Do you guys use the same coils as the town car's? I don't know if they vary, from car to car, I get the motorcraft COPs pretty cheap.

What's the :q:q:q:qing difference between motor craft coils and any others a sticker? Coils are coils they make the spark plug spark, I can see sticking with brand names on certain things but come on. That's like only using one certain tire, they are all rubber and they are all round.

Damn Jamie, calm down lol. Why didn't you buy some Prestolite COP's for $19.00.... They're all the same. :p

Air springs are air springs. Arnott and the original. They both air up. Does that make them the same too?

i didnt buy coils i bought boots, just the boots and autolite is all they had and thats was fine with me. and read what i wrote again i said some things are better to stay with brand name, like air springs, we are not arguing over air springs, we are talking about coil packs, they all do the same thing they cause a spark plug to spark, just like all lamps will light up your room, all toasters will toast bread, all bath tubs hold water, you are comparing apples to oranges by comparing coil packs to air struts. a coil pack doesnt controll how your car rides over bumps or how it handles in the corners!

I just had to hear you bitch a little, that's all. :) Also, nothing wrong with Autolite. Not downing what you bought and I'm not comparing coils to air springs. It was just an example. I use Autolite plugs, not Motorcraft and yes, the coils can control how it rides over bumps and handles corners. If they're chit out the box, the car might not be running at all to hit bumps and take any corners. :D *Hands Jamie a Marlboro*

So from what i've gathered, Just take the boot off and wrap the coil in electrical tape....Right?

What I would do is back all 8 plugs out so only about 2 threads remain in the head on all 8 plugs then take it on the highway and get it up to about 85 for 50 miles or so

Think i'm going with the AC Delco kit. I'll pay an extra buck or 2 for peice of mind.

Anyone try the Motorcraft SP433/ AGSF32WMF4's? Also thinking about Autolite AP104 Plat's or the double plat's.

Ended up going with the Autolite double Platinum's and the Delco boot kit.

I'm soo f'n done with coppers. Too high maintnence for little to no gain. I'll gladly pay a little extra not to worry about them on a yearly basis.

The plugs weren't your problem were they?

Not sure, I haven't had a chance to let the motor cool down yet to take em out. If they grossly exceeded there gap in 10k miles enough to burn out my cop's, i'll be pretty pissed.

I was going to get new plug's and boot's this spriing anyway's. This just fast forwarded the process a little. I'm just thankful I have spares on hand for these types of situations.

P.s. After rebate the doubles only cost 2.90 shipped a peice.

Just to add my two cents, I got a set of 8 coil packs off fleabay last year for $78 shipped. So far they're fine. And I decided to go with the OEM Motorcraft platinum plugs. This was after I had 5 of the 8 coils die on me at the same time one day and had to limp the car 40 miles home running on 3 cylinders:eek: Haven't had any problems with them yet...knock on wood...

Wow, that's a chain reaction I don't want to have happen to me.

Yeah, it was here:

Clicky

Sucked like crazy! They all just crapped out at once. It was running just fine, and then spit, sputter, cough cough, etc. But the new coils fixed the problem. I would suggest go ahead and just replace all the coils. If you have an issue with one of them, the rest will follow shortly. Do 'em all at once and save the headache of replacing them one at a time over a long period of time. Just my opinion.
