Hey all, Just got a 2004 LS every time i drive the car i get a burning coolent smell outside the car like when im done driving. Doesn't smell in the car, no visible leaks inside or under the car when parked. opened the hood and took off some of the plastic cowls, no visible leaks anywhere that i can see. The smell is fairly faint, but noticable. Dealer changed my Dccv so i have been checking all around there and no signs of any leak. Any thoughts or ideas?

Check the bleeder hose, also I know you don't see leaks, but have you or the dealer ever changed the Degas Bottle?

I haven't, I purchased my vehicle on Monday 11/07/2011 in new jersey and drove it all the way back to the mitten. Tonight was the first night i was going to have my mechanic give it the once over and give me the laundry list of things that need to be fixed. I have made a list myself and have been knocking out one thing at a time.

There's a coolant hose that crosses over the top of engine, through the valley, and can leak. It took me 3 years to find out why I kept smelling coolant, plus it finally burst open and ran down the back of the block. Anyways, I'm not sure the 2nd gens have those joegr might be able to help there.

did jolinc01's solution help? Im curious and will be all over the boards because I'm having this same problem. Every year during winter i turn the heat on and 2 mins later that nasty smell (burning oil or coolant) takes over. I have to drive with the windows open. This year it's bad it doesn't go away unless im doing highway driving.
