How hot does everyones car run?? My 95, which I bought in 05 with 44000miles runs right at the "M" in the normal on the temp gauge whether hot or cold day, my 94 i just picked up with 133,000 on it runs considerably cooler, like between the "A" and the "L" where should these cars run at?

my 94 runs right in between the a and l replaced thermostat so i am sure that is where its supose to b.

Every Gen 1 Mark seems to read differently. Some days mine will be very low & some days it will darn near be pegged out, My friends Mark does this same exact thing. The engine temp is always the same though! Checked with a digital inferred thermometer. The gauges in my many Mustangs would do the same thing as well. I really think it's just a ford thing. I wouldn't trust the factory gauge for a second.

Both of mine have read between the R and M, consistently. When I get into traffic it goes up to between O and R at a maximum. I hear the fan kick in at the bottom of O, meaning that is 206 degrees I believe. I can feel a difference in power production between operating temperatures. If your car is running higher then O on occasion, I would check to make sure your fan works.

My green 94 is usually near the A, my red 94 is usually near the M. Never had an overheating problem with either one.

If it's in the normal range, and not pegged hot, your fine. If it's close to the top, maybe go over the cooling system, flush, make sure all is good etc if your worried...

My 94 usually runs low 3rd of normal, but today it was close to zero out and it climbed all the way to the top of normal range by the time I got to work. I wasn't intending to drive it the winter but the brakes went out on the ranger and I didn't have time to fix it this week-end. Yes the coolant in the MK is new and I perged the air from the system. 1st time it's done this. WTH?

Put a 160 degree in... cooler the better!

can/worms/open

you better put on your asbestos underwear.
The "know it alls" are gonna flame you into oblivion..

You know.. the thermostat is too cold and the car wont ever go closed loop.
or.. running it too cold will increase engine wear.. and all those other unsubstantiated claims people parrot around the internet.

Just think.. had I not run a 160 thermostat.. my cars engine would have lasted longer???

I put over 350K with a 160 thermostat in my car...
