I saw in a different thread that our rotor sizes are as follows:

Front is 294 mm (11.6") stock, nominal thickness 26 mm (1.024")
rear is 258 mm (10.16") stock, nominal thickness 18 mm (.709")

Now here's where I'm thoroughly confused...Upon HOURS of searching for multiple days I can't understand why virtually all performance companies except powerslot, offer only front rotors for our car.

So my question is regardless if it says if it's for the front or not, can I put a rotor on my car if it says it's for the front of the Mark VIII yet it says it's 10.16" in diameter?

You could...but it would cause abnormal wear of the brake pads. You're putting a smaller diameter rotor in the place of a larger one. So some of the brake pad will protrude above the smaller rotor. That will cause a ridge to form on the brake pad as it wears. Also your braking power will be diminished due to the reduced brake pad swept area. I know this because it happened to my mom's '97 Cougar 30th Anniversary. Somebody put the V-6 rotors on the front. When they warped, I replaced them with the correct size V-8 rotors. The brake pads looked like an upside down "L" from the side when I took them off because of the smaller rotor. Either way, don't do it. Use the stock diameter rotors for the front.

Check out rotors for the taurus....

Same size on 01+ cars (96+ SHO), same bolt pattern....

Go compare a Mark 8 rotor and a 99+ Taurus rotor. They might be different, or they could nearly be the same.

EDIT: Probably because we have vented rear rotors - taurii have solid rear rotors.
