Colin Powell Endorses Obama

You apparently didn't watch the video. He made it crystal clear why he's endorsing him. You just don't want to acknowledge those reasons.

It absolutely sickens me that people like you would dismiss Powell's thoughtful and concise reasons for supporting Obama, and then simply narrow it down to, "it MUST be because he's black," simply because you refuse to accept the possibility that a universally respected man like Powell could possibly think about what's best for the country without regards to party. So with no way to actually refute what he says, you smear the man himself, as is the standard right-wing response to anyone who challenges your self-claimed monopoly on national security and patriotism. And everything else for that matter.

To even suggest that Powell is endorsing Obama based solely on race is racist itself to the extreme. Reminder for Bryan: the word for today is projection.
To quote Shakespeare, Methinketh the General doth protest too much.

And any day I make a liberal sick is a good day.:D

Let me guess: anything to do with Larry Martin? If so, good luck getting anyone to buy it.

Larry Martin???

Guess I need to beat you over the head with this one for a couple of days huh!:shifty:

Last I checked, Larry Martin was a Congressman from South Carolina I believe.

In other words, you're unable to defend your assertion.
I don't have to defend it. It is what it is, plain as the nose on your face.

How many white liberal inexperienced candidates for office has Powell endorsed?

In regard to Af-ri-can A-mer-i-can, I believe that it's requiring the saying of a multi-syllabic designation that's at the root of the nomination. I concluded that I'd be willing to use the designation as soon as I was regularly referred-to as a Eur-o-pe-an Cau-ca-sian A-mer-i-can. Or it might be better to simply use the apellations 'black' and 'white'. 'Black' was found to be the most acceptable designator by a large margin, according to the result of a poll of negros a few years ago.
KS

It is pretty clear that Powell's endorsement is pretty inconsistent with his past. His words may say one thing, but his actions say another. Actions do speak louder then words.

Also, Powell's reasons for supporting Obama are thoughtful? That is a bit of a stretch. All I saw was someone trying to justify buying into a cult of personality. His reasoning was rather weak and based as much on an irrational and unfounded faith in Obama as anything else.

Make no mistake; the Powell endorsement was all about race and elitism; nothing more and nothing less.

He just wants a job in a potential Obama administration.
Obama has already said he has a place for him.

Colin Powel has been a conservative Democrat at least through out my life time. That's why I've never been supportive of him running for office. His wife can be quite outspoke regarding her left leanings.
However, Limbaugh has summed it up quite effectively this morning:

Limbaugh: Where are the inexperienced, white liberals Powell has endorsed?

Rush Limbaugh said Colin Powell's decision to get behind Barack Obama appeared to be very much tied to Obama's status as the first African-American with a chance to become president.

"Secretary Powell says his endorsement is not about race," Limbaugh wrote in an email. "OK, fine. I am now researching his past endorsements to see if I can find all the inexperienced, very liberal, white candidates he has endorsed. I'll let you know what I come up with."

As for Powell's statement of concern this morning about the sort of Supreme Court justices a President McCain might appoint, Limbaugh wrote: "I was also unaware of his dislike for John Roberts, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Anthony Kennedy and Antonin Scalia. I guess he also regrets Reagan and Bush making him a four-star [General] and Secretary of State and appointing his son to head the FCC. Yes, let's hear it for transformational figures."

WTF is that? Code words for “Powell should be saying “Yes massuh. Thank you massuh.” to Regan and Bush??

Rush’s strawman is false, Obama is NOT “inexperienced”, nor is he “very liberal”. His whole argument dissolves in the face of facts.

That "ignore list" is nice!!! ;) :D ;) :D

Think I may start using it a little more.

Not at all. He is a guy who's family has advanced professional on the basis of the judgment of Republicans. T

YOU are the guy who's interjected racism into that statement. I shouldn't be surprised though, it has been the racist fall back position of Democrats to say that Condi, Collin, and any other black conservatives are "uncle toms" whenever they disagree with them.

Either you are lying or just completely ignorant. It's that simple.
Who is Obama to the right of in the Congress? You're statement is just so astoundingly false, it's staggering. It's so boldly untrue, it's not even debatable.

There are 10 congress members further left than Obama, while there are only 7 further right than McCain. McCain is without a doubt more extreme and "closer to the edge" than Obama.

Skeeter, your repeated proof by assertion arguments are tiresome and lame. It's easy to prove Obama's a liberal - you just did it by posting your chart.

Got anything else, Mr. One Trick Pony?

Besides, what does he have to be ashamed of by being a liberal? Aren't you a liberal? Isn't the liberal ideology the right one? Why are you ducking the issue and defending Obama for being called a liberal, if it's such a good thing?

"Optimal Classification algorithm" isn't usually a meter used in political circles. Unless of course you simply are cherry picking it in order to validate your desired outcome.

Unfortunately for you, it back fired.
If you read the website, using his data, there are only 8 Senators to the left of Obama. Feingold (D-WI), Whitehouse (D-RI), Sanders (I-VT), Boxer (D-CA), Kennedy (D-MA), Brown (D-OH), Lautenberg (D-NJ), and Levin (D-MI) not ten.

And according to the chart, McCain is on the left, nearer the center) of the Republican bell curve, considerably, while Obama is considerably farther from the political center than McCain. He's even to the left of his party.

Congress_110.jpg

So you failed, even with your cherry picked data.

For the record, I think that source was crap and that program is rubbish.

Hey Percy, try READING the post to which I was responding. The question posed by Calabrio was "Who is Obama to the right of in the Congress? " An obvious admission that he agrees with the false accusation parroted by McCain and every other RWW that "Obama is the MOST liberal" Senator. So I showed Calabrio how WRONG he was, and then EVEN HE ADMITS IT by confirming it w/ his own reply:

We can debate how many are "to the left of Obama" until the cows come home, but it doesn't change the fact I DISPROVED and CALABRIO NOW AGREES that Obama is not the MOST liberal.

I've never defended Obama's liberal leanings, don't need to or want to, because there is nothing wrong with it. I only defended the mis-characterization that he is the MOST liberal. And FYI, I personally lean Libertarian and maintain my independent voting status. Unlike you, I refuse to buy ANYBODY's hype wholeheartedly like you've swallowed the "culture warrior / christian conservative" pill of hypocritical sewage. Unlike you, I have an open mind that is capable of seeing both the good and bad in both sides.
