I keep getting oil on on of my coils. I notice quite a bit of oil pooling around one of my sparkplugs
It seems to make the coil to start missfiring on that cylinder.
any suggestions?

thanks

VCGs (valve cover gasket(s)). Replace them.

Have fun, cya.

I am not gonna tell you to go search. I will just be nice and give you a hint-----The REAL OFFICIAL LINCOLN LS OWNERS GUIDE!!!!

very easy if you have a 03-05 LS with less than 100k miles, you just have to take it to the dealer, however if you have a first gen, its kinda a PITA.

Actually, the valve cover gaskets are only covered on the 2003 LS, and only the V8 at that. I'm guessing that the OP has a 2001.

I just did mine (Valve Cover Gaskets) about 3 weeks ago and it took me about 4 hours. I have a 2002 LS8. Suggestion- Replace the plugs and coil packs while you are in there. You will be thankful you did after you are done putting it all back together. You can get the coils from Global Automotive on Ebay for $110 shipped and the plugs for around $50 depending on which you choose. Global offers a lifetime replacement warranty on the coils and so far they are working great. Did alot of searching on coil suppliers and they seem to be as good as any.

Good luck

I agree with everyone in this thread and Nascarguy. I have a 2002 V8 LSE.

However, I'm fairly decent with tools and took mine into the shop. Once I hit over 40, my lower back cant tolerate standing and bending over a tight engine compartment for hours at a time. In hindsight, the passenger side would have been fairly easy, but there are a couple of bolts in the back of the drivers side that can give you hell. And if you dont position the new gasket in there perfectly, all your work will have been for naught. Long story short, I coughed up the $800 or so for labor 3 or 4 years ago and about 60k miles ago ago at the local Ford Dealership to have them do the valve cover gasket replacement. They put in my Bosch Platinum plugs and Global coils as well. One of my coils went bad over the summer. Check engine light came on and said it was cylinder #5 I think. Replaced that coil with a spare I had on hand and she's been running fine again ever since. (No oil was in the well this time around).

Good luck
