OK, I have done my VC gaskets (were leaking), replaced my spark plugs, have no CEL but car still seems to misfire!!! I guess I am going to have to replace all the coils since I am not throwing a code (scanned twice!). Has anyone else ran into this?
I would hate to be replacing perfectly good coils just because I can't tell which are bad or good. I would assume the plug wells that were leaking are the culprits but I can't be really sure. I guess I should just be safer then sorry.:(
If you are experiencing power problems/misfires and have done all I have and have no codes, I'm guessing all we can do is throw parts at it.:D

You could always wait for the code. Mine took about three weeks to throw a code. I just changed the gasket and one coil this past weekend. All four coils on the drivers side looked bad to me but just one was bad. I cleaned up the others and replaced the all the sparkplugs. Now it's rumming great again.

when i brake torqued thats when i got my CEL.... You should go ahead and replace all your coils...

I haven't replaced the coils or boots yet but I am planning to do this week. The coils come complete right? With the boots attached?
"brake torqued"?? What do you mean?

brake torqued is when you hold down the brake while pushing on the gas to do a burn out or while at the staging line

So just to double check and make sure . . . if I have no CEL is there anyway I can test the coils to see which ones are bad?

there is a method to do that but it requires the WDS system the dealers have and a carefully trained eye. some coils come with boots, some don't. You definitely want new boots. others have reused there boots and not fixed the problem.

go to rockauto.com .. they have ford motorcraft coils for $40 each and they come with the boots

2004 Lincoln LS V8 3.9

I have a 2004 Lincoln LS, I want to know if the coils for the earlier model LS's are the same. And does anyone no the part # for the LS coils?

Yeah I already did my plugs a couple were fouled from oil . . . when I replaced car ran smoother but I can still feel the mis from one or more of the coils. (already did the VC gasket too)

ok, I'm all done . . . new VC gaskets, spark plugs, coils . . . cross your fingers. I hope this fixes it or I'm out of ideas.

did you replace the BOOTS or just the coils?

Not to bring up old news, but I just found out my #4 coil is bad and the stealership want $286 to replace it... Went to rockauto and found these.

They're $37.79/piece.

From the picture it looks like the boots come w/ the coils. Right?? This is the description on rockauto.
