Ok, the above is the standard setup for a Gen 1. There was a change in coil pack numbering, but its the same in the end.
There are only FOUR trigger wires because two plugs always fire at the same time. One for combustion and then a "wasted" spark to burn off any residual fumes.
In the above setup the pairs are 1&6, 3&5, 7&4, 8&2. If you look at a coil pack you can see easily how this is setup. The harness of each coil pack has three wires. The center is a positive power feed the outer ones are the trigger wires. You can basically splits the coil pack in half to also see the pairs.
Now to convert to COP you will need four positive power leads to four of the eight COPs. These can be shared to reduce wiring but I advise running each back to the main harness to tap a larger gauge positive power lead. There are several in the main harness, all red and thicker gauge than others.
For the trigger wires you wire these in corresponding pairs in SERIES. So you take the 1/6 trigger and run the trigger wire to number 1 on the NEGATIVE terminal then from #1 POSITIVE terminal around to number 6 NEGATIVE terminal where it will end. On number 6 the remaining POSITIVE terminal goes to one of the four leads noted in the above paragraph. You CAN reverse this oder and go from 6 to 1 if need be, it does not matter.
Here is an example of how each is run: (the trigger wires ARE not the correct colors, you will have to determine that when you look at your connectors at coil pack)
