cobra motor swap

dude i need help i mean im trying to figure out a sc build that i can do or swa p and its all going in a 1994 mark VIII
I would not attempt such swap with the old fasion eec4 computer. Swap over to eecV or get a 96 if you need a 1st gen. Safer, cheaper and EASIER in the long run.

i am looking for some help with this motor swap and i was pionted to u regaurding a reference on how to do this now far as the motor goes i havent purchased it yet im just figuring out the basics and go from there on what i need
What's there to figure out ? It's been done and over with.

Do you have a complete 03 cobra motor ?

Buy the motor first. It's the most important first step. The rest is easy. EEC IV is not the best for it, but it will get the job done. To get the most out of it I'd suggest 96+ car or EEC swap. But like I said, get the motor first.

Well I sent him several PMs on details and options. In short I told him he has two options: New engine or just the heads.

Then from there, super charged or not. If not there is not much to do, exhaust, steering, mounts, maybe a Mach 1 TC, etc... If he does super charge then new shaft, a better trans cause we know the 93 will crank under pressure, new hood, etc...

So I think we gave you your options.

Go with something with 03/04 heads and go from there. Once you decide on super charger or not we can better guide you. Basically, get the engine and start a new thread. The prices I gave you are ball park but give you and idea. $4k for non-supercharged. Double that for super charged, easily.

Ill get you started on the road:

I have a set of 03 Cobra cams I just took out of the heads I bought..

$100+shipping for the set of 4! LOL

Basically this is a pretty involved "swap", and you have to make a couple of desicons...
1)What block do I want to use...a forged bottom end using the Mark block or a cobra block
2)What super charger, stock eaton or an upgraded K/B...
3)wiring the engine...use the stock one or try and swap the harness off the cobra plus the computer plus the additional hardware to control the transmission
3)Fuel system upgrades
4)Transmission upgrades
5)Upgrading the rest of the drivetrain...ie-driveshaft, rearend, and the supports for it to handle the added power
6)Getting the stuff to fit in the engine compartment, ie-hood clearance and header clearance

Then after you figure ALL of that out, start collecting the parts you need, make a list of the stuff you know is going to be harder to find, set out a plan for yourself and a timeline for it, but be reasonable about it because sometimes its going to take patience to get everything working!

OR just go buy a $24k Cobra...:p

I going to go the route that roadboss did except with the eaton not the kb, you can fin the eaton for cheap($200-$1200) on ebay. Thats a good start but the heads are more costly, not as easy to find cheap.

Well..I just picked up a set for $550 off an 03, and from the same guy I got a stage 4 ported eaton for $850. You just need to find the right deal at the right time. Like i said if you want a start I got the cams for sale!..lol But while looking for the things you want you really need, start a list of things you need and a starting point it will help you keep on track later on.

hey Geno... shouldn't the license plate on that supermark say " 1 of none ".. or " 1 of 0".. or even.. " the 1 ".. how bout "dvlchld".. haha

So what all is involved with accessory mounting and pulley setup?

I've been tossing around the idea of throwing a set of C heads and an M112 on the gen 2 - if I can ever find a gen 2 to buy.

I think you'd have to swap the front accessory cover to a cobra cover, as the alternator sits above the Power Steering pump.

I just bought an 02 Crown Vic today (hey it was cheap, $1850,) so this isn't happening anytime soon.. But if anybody out there has a pic of what the accessory drive would have to look like that'd be nice.

Charlie's setup isn't using and accesory drive belt. The whole kit is a mach 1 specific KB kit. it is far different from the OEM cobra setup.

What did the setup cost? Or to be more direct how much in the motor? It looks awesome!!!

You can find a used one on the auction sites for around $5000 to $9000, depends on the seller, but as stated before its just the beginning.

All 03-04 heads are EXACTLY the same, be it aviator, mach 1, marauder, or cobra.

There is a lot of money in the pictured motor, as it's a forged all aluminum high compression block.
Not really needed, but it felt like a good thing at the time.

O RLY? I had heard one time that they spec'd different components for the supercharged applications. Guess that source was incorrect.
