I have a question... and I'm sorry if it's a dumb one.

I've read all the threads here about clockspring and I know I need to replace mine. I've gone through all the stages...airbag light, horn, and now beeping(which actually stopped a few days ago:D )

But lately it's also been overheating.. and I've also read those threads about bleeding it and changing the thermostat..

but..

What are the chances of these 2 being related? I ask this because when it over heats it seems to just overheat all of a sudden...not gradually. And there's been times when I've thought that maybe the car wasn't really overheating.
Can this be an electrical glitch related to the clockspring? Or are they definately 2 separate issues?

They are related - only because they both common issues that almost every Gen1 LS has over time.

ok.. still a little confused. I guess what I'm asking is if fixing the clockspring might fix the overheating?

I ask because I wasn't planning on fixing the clockspring at the moment... since I'm a little worried about how much money i might have to dish out to fix the overheating... but if i can kill 2 birds...:D

the instant overheating sounds like air in your coolant system.
the clockspring is what powers your airbag. that is all it does.

Replace clockspring and fix cooling system

Replace your clockspring, $150. It is not related to overheating.

Plenty of issues with overheating. It could be costly. If it is hydraulic fan, think of replacing with electric fan, find on ebay.

Two separate systems in this car,,,,1 hydraulic fan and pump,,,,,2 coolant system.

try some water wetter in the coolant system, it really works to keep things cool.

the car should be able to run normally with normal coolant - if you have to add water wetter to it - something is wrong.

Now if the car is moddified (running boost = heated intake temps) or run hard - race track - then modifying the cooling system may be needed.
