So major plans for my LS hopefully to be complete by January. I just received my shocks in the mail from Maxx and my Eibachs off ebay.

Reviews look to be good but has anyone used it?

You'll like that unit. I love my 3200dvd minus the push button volume.
 
i can't wait to see that thing lowered!

i was literally going to bump your old thread a couple of days ago asking if you ever lowered it.

Pioneers are nice but im looking at getting a Kenwood DDX-318.

Dont need nav since i can just run nav off my iphone and i can add bluetooth later.

I love this time of year...get a nice bonus at work so it helps.

Im also looking at getting new wheels and lowering.

That's a Kenwood unit I wouldn't mind owning, but everyone has their preference. For the price I got the pioneer new it was a deal I couldn't pass up. I wanted built in nav but wasn't willing to lay down hundreds of dollars extra for it when I have 3 gps's at home. The pioneers interface is lovely too, throw in a 8band eq, x-overs, 4v outs ect and it was a go.
 
Thanks guys....I think I'll like the pioneer too since I've never had any type of double din. Mlara I love your car man. I'm partial to white cars with black tint-my first car had the white/black theme goin. You and drizzle have two of the best cars on here.

Any info on the steering wheel control adapter...I would like to order it asap as long as someone gives me a thumbs up
 
Are those jaguar carelia 19s??? I've been looking at those in the painted silver
 
Bump - Pioneer came in today and now I really want to order steering wheel controls. What's the best option? What are you guys using? Thanks!
 
Been wanting to see your ls lowered with those wheels, it should look very nice!
 
Sorry for the crappy pics and filthy car...pending the weather, I'm hoping to get her nice and clean on Sunday and I'll take some more pics.

I had the car aligned at a dealer and they suggested the camber kit and new rear tie rods. They also said my control arm bushings look kinda worn - I guess that will be added to the christmas list...I checked this thread (Yes, I searched!) and I'm looking to get them online since my dealer wanted wayyyyyy too much. Apparently they were tough to find a while ago so I'm assuming they still are. Anyone buy tie rods recently and can point me in the right direction?

If you don't mind losing the passive four wheel steering, the deeza parts are readily available from rockauto (they are under the sway bar link section, see rear toe link)
 
The OEM toe links are generally available. Shipments seem to come in every few weeks. Any dealership can get them.

Four-wheel steering (or all-wheel steering) is a system employed by some vehicles to improve steering response, increase vehicle stability while maneuvering at high speed, or to decrease turning radius at low speed.

In most active four-wheel steering systems, the rear wheels are steered by a computer and actuators. The rear wheels generally cannot turn as far as the front wheels. Some systems, including Delphi's Quadrasteer and the system in Honda's Prelude line, allow the rear wheels to be steered in the opposite direction as the front wheels during low speeds. This allows the vehicle to turn in a significantly smaller radius—sometimes critical for large trucks or tractors and vehicles with trailers.

Many modern vehicles offer a form of passive rear steering to counteract normal vehicle tendencies. For example, Subaru used a passive steering system to correct for the rear wheel's tendency to toe-out. On many vehicles, when cornering, the rear wheels tend to steer slightly to the outside of a turn, which can reduce stability. The passive steering system uses the lateral forces generated in a turn (through suspension geometry) and the bushings to correct this tendency and steer the wheels slightly to the inside of the corner. This improves the stability of the car, through the turn. This effect is called compliance understeer and it, or its opposite, is present on all suspensions. Typical methods of achieving compliance understeer are to use a Watt's Link on a live rear axle, or the use of toe control bushings on a twist beam suspension. On an independent rear suspension it is normally achieved by changing the rates of the rubber bushings in the suspension. Some suspensions will always have compliance oversteer due to geometry, such as Hotchkiss live axles or a semi-trailing arm IRS.

Passive rear wheel steering is not a new concept, as it has been in use for many years, although not always recognised as such. For example, Jaguar independent rear suspension incorporated a small amount of passive rear wheel steering since 1961.

I had no idea there was such a thing as passive rear steering. I knew several models came with active four wheel steering (such as 300zx) but had never heard of passive, and for sure never heard it applied to the LS.

if passive 4wheel steering was that important, I would imagine the discontinuance of a particular part to incorporate this would be avoided.

It's kind of like spoilers on the rear end, they only have real effect well over 100mph.

And they have to be big enough to compensate for the physical mass of the vehicle

So the question is, what effects would the existence or non-existence of passive rear wheel steering make?

At lower speeds, in normal driving conditions, I'm not sure these upper end performance additions make all that much difference.

BTW YMMV (depending on your driving habits that is)
 
You mean you don't drive over 100+ I must be a baddddd boy!!

I suprised the hell out of an acura one night,, we stayed at 125ish for about 50 miles.

I love this forum,, I feel smarter after reading it!!

I don't know... In my previous days, I used to do regular runs from Tucson Az to San Diego Ca in my fairly modded Pontiac on I-8.

Traveled at night and usually about 135-140 for long stretches. Did the run in 5 1/2 hours at one point. Base speed limit was 75 at that time, no enforcement presence at all.

I guess I'm showing my age.

not sure My LS would do as well. At least not without a boat load of fixin to get it ready for the abuse :D

Not to mention, an extra set of Cahoneys (I know the spelling is wrong) just for comfort... :/
