i was gonna post in anything goes but i like the traffic in here better.
so this morning, i get to work, load up the portable welder, and head back to my town to repair a spiral staircase inside a customers house. i back into the driveway and start dragging out my welding leads .
now for anyone who knows us 19, its very fast paced, dangerous and notorious for killing people both auto deaths and pedestrian. the house i was at was across from the famous innisbrook resort and golf club ( been on espn ) i was on citrus dr only 5 houses down, so i was close to us 19 and could hear traffic plain as day.
so as i am running things in the house i hear what sounded like a crash but couldnt tell, well within a few minutes i could hear sirens, ah i said, typical us 19, well then a few minutes later bay flight came, seen that a millions times to whatever, i go inside and prepare to weld., i am inside about 10 minutes, i finish up and go outside to wrap things up, now they have the end of the steet i am on blocked.
i see one helicopter take off and another bay flight lands, wow must be a good one, so i am almost ready to leave and that helicopter leaves too, so as i get to the end of the street i hear another bayflight copter omg wtf is going on.
i pulled into hess and parked the work truck and walked to where the other 1000 people were standing, i took pics with my phone, i cant believe how close you could get to the cars, but the pics from the local news channel are way better, look at the pontiac gto driven by a 28 year old , and this toyota highlander driven by a 62 year old woman, they say the gto was speeding, but the lady pulled out in front of him from a side street, the speed limit on 19 here is 55 mph, there was 3 people in the gto, 2 are in serious condition this thing is unreal.

its looks like it used to have some cobra looking rims on it. i bet it used to be a nice car

Thats nuts! but those GTO's never held up very well in a crash iirc

I hate how they blame speeding immediately when this never
would have happened if the suv was paying attention

I used to have a bumper sticker on my car that read"Pray for me, I drive on US 19". I have been in my share of accidents on 19, I got t-boned at eh intersection of 19 and Curlew Rd, and I worked at Hooters on US 19 Palm Harbor, and it was a New Years Eve after hours party for the Employees and my buddy left and walked home from being to drunk to drive and walked across 19 and got hit but not by one car but 3 in a row, after being flipped in the air from the first then the second and the third sent him to the side of the road. We did not even know until 3 days later when he never showed up for work and the Pinellas County Sheriffs came to Hooters to ask if they had an employee missing or new this person in a picture was. Because they had no id to know who he was and we went to the hospital and he had halo after halo up and down his legs and arms from being broken in soo many areas, to this day he is still in a wheel chair. That was when I was a young lad, and US 19 has not gotten any better.

I do not know how long the construction on 19 by Drew and all that area has been going on. With the super speedway overhead and the lower section thru out has just made it more difficult. Back in the day it was all one level and dangerous as hell like still today.

US 19 is a super speedway for all kinds. It is and always has been a death trap. I used to get soo many tickets on US 19 and Alt 19 and 580 Main St. Where I lived and my folks still do is called Dunedin, and they used to have their own police force, but now it is patroled by the Pinellas County Sheriffs. But when it was patroled by Dunedin PD, if I was driving down the street I would get pulled over to see if I had my license in good standing. Young and dumb and invinceable. At least I thought, very expensive childhood.

there was actually another accident around 3 pm just south of this accident by a mile, the corner of alderman and us 19 in front of longhorn steakhouse, an suv and toyota pickup smashed up. same side of the road too. this area is on the top 5 spots in pinellas county for accidents. tampa rd and 19 is the deadliest intersection in pinellas county, thats my intersection going to work and coming home, i live right off tampa rd. raped i am in between curlew and tampa rd on the east side of 19, the lake st george community. whats funny, just to show how everyone wrecks on 19, this gto accident was 5000 feet from the actual intersection of old post road and us 19, this is my 98 lsc from 07 when i was approaching old post rd and 19 lmfao, see we all get a taste of us 19, i rear ended an acura integra.

I know were you are at. My father used to have a store Called Barnacle Bill's Bait and Tackle Supply on Alt 19 and then moved down the street to Orange St down from Homeport Marina for many years. My parents still live off Alt 19 across from Dunedin Country Club. I used to party like hell in the Spanish Oaks Community thru my HS days in the early 80's. And hang out at Dunedin Causeway, and used to 4x4 in the RidgeMoor area. I eat with my parents at Crabby Bill's, and at Thirsty Marlin, Molly Goodheads, Snappers. We go out to one of them all the time. I am going up this weekend to see the folks with my inlaws and wish I could meet ya, but have a full schedule on this trip.

I remember when my Dad had his Grand Opening of the store on Orange St and allot of people adn customers were there and my buddy and I was driving by and I stood up in the bed of the truck and mooned everyone as we drove by. My Dad still gets a kick out of that experience.

well the 2 passengers in the gto very well could die, they are in serious condition, i'm gonna watch the 10 oclock news and get the story.

Anyone else think while looking at the pics "I wonder if the LS2 is OK?":D
