My "Check Charging System" light keeps coming on. it'll only stay on for a minute or 2 then turns off. about a month ago i got a new battery (yellow top) and a new alternator but decided to get them checked anyways....both are fine. my system isnt connected right now so thats not the problem either. so whats causing the light to come on? i dont want to pay the $76 to get the stealership to LOOK at it. any ideas? does the CCS light leave a code i can pull? thanks guys

Sounds obvious, but the first thing to check is that all connections are tight. Lincolns are very finicky when it comes to electrical stuff.

Check both ends of the ground; at the battery and where it connects to the body.

Yep, do a continuity check on your main wires. Also do voltage checks to see if things are getting their proper power.

Just curious but do you have a larger aftermarket stereo system?

i do but its disconnected right now. im working on some enclosures so the subs are out and the amps disconnected.

did you ever get this problem fixed??

Same issue 2002 Lincoln LS V8

I am currently having this very same issue. Replaced the battery, all connections are tight..
It is intermittent.. Seems to happen when 'most' electrical stuff is on, i.e. lights , radio, wipers. It also will blow assy. fuses i.e. GPS, cellphone chargers, ipod power. It also will blow brake lights, turn signals.. It is also bolwing out the cabin temp sensor..

I love my car but this is driving me crazy..
I have searched and got everything from a bad alternator, bad key, loose connections, bad ground just to name a few..
I read were this seems to be a common problem yet there is no solutions...

What gives?? Is there a solution or do you live with it????

MORE electrical issues...

Well..
I have a mass of electrical issues to tackle on my ride...

First: the charging system.. It works fine.. but the carzy light goes on and off ALL THE TIME..
Second: dropped D4.. hit the side of the floor console get D4 back... no brainer here folks..
Third: crazy cabin climate sensors.. half hot half cold and you never know when or what air you will get....
Fourth: that damn seat plug under for the air bags..

Yes.. Lincoln LSs are very picky about connections....

DYI....

If you are BLOWING fuses..thats due to excessive voltage. I'd venture to say the voltage regulator is failing. Not sure where it is on the LS, but on some cars, the voltage regulator is built into the alternator
