check air suspension once more

This time its not the relay. the solenoids are not clicking at all. The pump isnt running and the vent valve isnt venting air.... This happened soon after i removed my "upgraded" ray kit. Im thinking it may have something to do with the two wires that are cut and spliced during the installation of the kit. If I accidently crimped them to the wrong wire what could possibly happen?
 
CAN ANYBODY HELP ME!?!? The compressor, compressor relay, and suspension computer are all good. The solenoids wont even click when the key is turned on. Any fuses for the susp computer. Anybody have ANY ideas???? im clueless and its pissing me off. any help would be appreciated.
 
Well.. if you shorted a couple of wires, you might also be looking at a new air ride computer... How do you know the computer is good?

Time to start doing some electrical troubleshooting. find out if you're getting a switch signal to the relay (basically, find out if the relay is getting voltage from the computer in order to switch it), then find the wire that goes to the relay and see if you're getting voltage on the computer's side. Find out if you're getting power to the solenoids (though, I'd really be shocked if all 4 of the solenois went titties up at the same time).

Find out if you're getting power TO the air ride computer while you're at it. Can't hurt to check.

I don't know if the wire colors are the same, but in case you don't have the connector diagrams, I've attached them here for ya. Mind you, these are 98 colors. But the pinouts should be the same.

thanks... im gonna play around with a test light tomorrow if the weather permits and get back to you with what i find. Im Almost positive the solenoids arent getting any power at all. The computer is getting power, and the two wires that i cut were the light green wires with yellow stripes and I beleive that they supply constant power to the computer. Now if I mixed these wires up... Is it possible It coulve shorted the suspension computer.
 
Yeah, the modules on these cars aren't really that forgiving. Something as simple as accidentally swapping the power and ground wires for the vent solenoid "can" wipe that part of the module out.

BTW, are you getting the check suspension message right after startup?
 
Well.. It could be. Typically, OEM electronics don't have any built-in reverse polarity protection because they don't need to. OEMs don't really care to take into account things like a Ray Switch where someone might accidentally reverse polarity. By design, once a wiring harness is plugged into a piece of electronics, that harness shouldn't have to be rewired.

See if the computer is getting power. Then see if the relay, actuators, etc pins on the computer side of the wiring harness have power. If they do, but not get the power at the relay and vent solenoids, then your problem lies elsewhere between the two. Make sure you have power going into the computer. I you do, your problem is between the computer power pin (if you are getting power to it) and the outputs... which would indicate a fried computer.
 
Didn't you get that parts car? Why not just swap the air suspension modules quick and see if the air ride starts working.

yeah. It'll go low fuel level and then check air ride maybe 15 seconds later.
 
Should I be testing if im getting any power with the pins disconnected from the module. Also. I took the module off my parts car and I think I fried that one too. And a question that I have been trying to get answered. If anybody is familar with the upgraded ray kit... Would it be possible that the two wires needed to be cut, if they were swapped would it possibley damage the module?
 
So heres the deal. with the key on all the pins on the black connector that should be active, are. Im assuming power is going to the module. There is not even a tad bit of power coming out of the module. And considering the wires that I cut for the ray kit are both 12v, I dont see what happened.... Buuuuuuuut. My anti theft module went bad not too long ago... and its right under the dash along with the air susp. module. And these cars are notorious for water leaking down there, possibly causing electronic modules to fail. Im not too sure on how good of condition my parts car module is because the front solenoids would NEVER open. sooo im assuming that module is wack too. Next step is getting a module that I know is good. I'll go to the junkyard today and see if I cant find any modules just to test.
 
I got word from a ford tech that if one single height sensor goes fubar.... the whole system shuts down.
 
OOOKAY well I guess I had a bad connection or something. I went and started my car up to pull it into the driveway aaaannnndddd.... click... purr. WTF?!? IDK. im no longer worried. I think my car's trying to tell me something...:(
