So on my 03 it keeps popping up that i need to change the AC filter...does anyone know anything about this or if it deff. needs to be changed?

Everything on this car is ridiculously over priced.. $20 for a air filter?? Shhhhheeeet!

But you just gotta love this car...

stupid question...

how do i know if my car has a cabin air filter?

If your car is a Lincoln LS, it has a cabin air filter--or, at least, it has a space where one should be installed.

If your concerned about the cost just vacuum it off, blow it clean and reuse it.

Advance Auto and/or Autozone sells a Purolator replacement for about $18 if I recall. If it's not in stock, it arrives next business day at no extra cost

?

this filter goes pretty quick. is it really necessary to change it ? at least change it all the time? ive never changed a filter like this in anyother car ive had

what do you mean 'all the time'?

it's like every 30,000miles.... right?

I don't know how many miles it's been but I know I changed my about 6 months ago (way less then 30K miles ago) and now its down to like 30% in the status computer I know what the computer says is meaningless but still its annoying how often that thing chimes wanting something replaced filled or changed.

Oh and ya its a cinch to change you just have to take off the wiper cowl off and its right there on the passenger side.

I seem to recall it's about every 10k to 15k that it tells you to change it. Chances are, unless you live in a really dusty area..you could remove it, tap it clean, and re-use it with no harm, except possibly slightly limited cabin airflow through the vents. But at around $20 to replace it yourself when the computer suggests to...I don't find it a major deal.

is there any way to find out when the filter was put in, a date not mileage. i finally got around to checking mine and by the looks of it im betting its the same one that was put in in 1999
