***RANT*** its been a long day first I get up and ready for work hit the remote start and nothing I tried it again nothing went out used the key nothing just cranked and cranked so I called into work went back out and messed with it some more it was really cold last night and I am below quarter tank of gas so I figured gas line froze had the girlfriend take me to parts store and got some HEET and filled up a gas can put that in and waited a bit tried again nothing so girlfriend says lets call her dad and see if we can use his side business witch has a big open area in the back I could pull the car in He is a State Trooper during the day he gets off work and we tow the car over let it sit in the heated shop and go out to dinner come back try the car and battery is dead jumped it and finally it started needless to say let the battery charge and filled the tank up and got out the code reader and pulled these codes now more to deal with sorry for the long rant but needed to bitch a bit

get the gaskets taken care of, clear out the computer... see what happens. Worse case scenario, you have to also throw a $40 TPS on it (check with team ford).

Might want to consider a full coil replacement too.

the car has been idling a little high so I might just pick up a TPS and do it along with the gaskets. how much are the coils usually?

where year is the LS?

only the Gen1s have a TSP that can be swapped - the Gen2s use a throttle-by-wire setup and the TPS is part of the Throttle body assembly. It is very common for the mis-fires to cause a TPS error code - because of RF interfence. This often leads the dealer to swap the TB when it is not needed.

Quik... usually you're spot on with your answers. But... this one you're not correct. There is a TPS available for Gen II. As I recall, I got mine from team ford. Unfortunately the first one they sent me was the wrong part number. (pretty sure it would have worked on my F-150!) Anyhow, it is most certainly replaceable... I've done it.

On mine, for whatever reason my TPS crapped the bed on me... and it cause all sorts of other codes. No coil problems though.

good to know - I thought is was an assembly since all the dealerships swap the entire throttlebody, motor and tps....

I think that's just an issue of bend over consumer... I told the dealership to go get bent when they said my CAI cause my TB to fail and they needed to replace it to the tune of $700... THEN they could determine if anything else was wrong.

Funny how the 05 up mustang runs the same ECM software... Ford sells CAI for them. Yet with the Ford-CAN system, a CAI will cause the TB to fail. Not all mechanics are of the same level... and this is after I told them I have ASE certs... so they either think I'm really retarded, or they actually believed the load of crap they were feeding me

its a 01 v6. the car jerks back and forth/ stumbles it comes and goes only when I have light pressure on the gas tho

again... do your gaskets and coils, reset the computer... if that doesn't solve it, put on the TPS. Or if you feel so inclined, order the TPS and put that on while your at it. But you might very well end up just pissing away $40.
