CDC mesh group buy

Forget the site I posted.. You can only get it in 304 stainless and it's crazy expensive

I was just about to check it out, I was on my phone on the previous post. I'm on my computer now.

I'm good with what you had already. Go ahead and send me my sheet when you are able.

Ok, will ship it out soon

I'm in. How many grills can be made from one roll and who is going to be cutting the pieces? Plus, does that price include shipping?

I did some math a while back and it comes out to about 20 pieces.

to buy the roll of mesh it's 300 dollars shipped to one location, they do not cut it for us diagonally, the way we need it. I can have it shipped to my house, cut them, and ship them out, but I am not going to drop 300 myself to get the roll again.

So who's in for sure, add your name to the list. These are the people who have they are in.

You can check out other sizes.. I ran a 3x3 mesh with .054 wire 36x36" 304 Stainless and the price was over 100.. If you could find a combo that you could get aluminum or regular steel (idk what you originally have priced there), the price could change for the better.. You could also get a perforated 'mat' there and make replica McLaren grilles.. :D

Hint Hint..

That price is for stainless steel. It might be harder to make Mclaren replicas cause that material is pretty sturdy, hard to bend the curved shape of the grille and make it stay. Pektel and a few guys tried that already.

Hey Alax, how do you ship the mesh? Im just wondering how much it will cost to ship here. Do you roll it up?

I compressed it together, tape it up, put cardboard over it and tape it shut. Ships like a cardboard envelope. When you take the tape off the ends, it's springs back out to normal size. It's like 8-15 depending the location, that's through FedEx. I dont like shipping things out through USPS because they loose things and sometimes even say it's arrived according to tracking, but it never does. I haven't had any problems with FedEx so far. Plus their tracking updates a lot more that USPS

Ok, now where does one get the grill to do this? I have an '02 LSE but I would like to leave that grill stock. Does this work with 1st and 2nd GEN grills?

I'm good with either. If we get enough people I'd rather have the thicker mesh, but if we don't then I will take the old stuff

Ok Sweet, so its small so it should cost too much.

You'll need a GEN2 grille.

Has to be a gen2 grille because gen2 grilles have a one piece chrome grille surround. Gen1's only has the chrome grille surround as a top piece. The mesh has to be bonded to the surround so there needs to be a bottom portion to hold the mesh too.

Up to you. You want a refund until you decide?

Fock me, Anyone have a cheap gen2 for sale?

Ditto, I was looking around and they are $125 and up! Might have to fab my own. Are the emblems for the grill easy to get?

You have to use your emblem. To get a new oem emblem, you need to buy the whole grille. Check craigslist. I've gotten 2 sor far for 50 each

Thought maybe there was a way to buy the emblem since ford/lincoln seems to make everything a part, like the chrome vent accents! I found just one on craigslist for $50 so I will call that guy tomorrow. I may get that grille and use it to make a mold where maybe I could make my own blanks... that'd be sweet. Perhaps I could make emblems too, since I know there is a demand for these things.

nice find. I'm sure people would buy blanks from you to make their own grille

Yeah it is def do-able. I thought I had an extra 1st gen grille sitting around but now I can't find it. I could have made a template from that. I have a spare rear surround if anyone needs one of those. Has anyone thought of doing an emblem delete from the grille and rear surround? I personally think the car would look super sleek with no badging whatsoever.

I kinda like it. I like the one where the guy photoshopped out where the badge was and mad it flat across the top of the rear surround and I think the grille would look MEAN with no emblem and that part just smoothed across the top.

I also think a back-lit emblem would be an awesome feature.

Nah its cool. If its not a big inconvenience hold onto the old mesh for me and let this GB gauge interest more. With more people then we can use my money towards the new mesh. If not then you can just send me the original

So anybody else in? I need enough people to join in for ME to order the mesh. I was planning on having a shop cut it for me, I would put this out of my pocket, BUT, I'm not going to order the mesh if we dont have enough people to buy it and get it all shipped out.

No one else wants in?
