CD Changer

No one makes a plug and play replacement... You could always try used.

There are aftermarket options to replace the factory CD changer, you will have to do some wiring yourself...
 
I'd suggest searching eBay for aftermarket replacements. You'll need both head unit and changer. Or you can get a change and use an FM modulator.

I might be willing to sell my 12 disc JVC out of my 95. Send me a PM if interested.
 
I've got a 10-disc from a 98 that i'm thinking about getting rid of. That's why I asked what year. I don't know if they all interchange.
 
I have a '98 with the 10 cd changer.

I have seen a unit called NEOCHANGER and I'm trying to get some information. The company claims the unit is a direct replacement. Does anyone have one and how does it work?

My cd gives me a "NO CD" message and will not eject the cd magazine. I ran a shim along the bottom which released the magazine. I will unplug the unit and and see if that clears the problem. If not, then remove the unit and see if a cd or something else is causing problems. Clean it and replace. May be that will help. What type of lube sould be used?

After that I will decide how to proceed with replacement or finding a used changer. What is a used changer worth? I have seen them on internet auction site starting about $25. For a used unit I don't know if that is reasonable.
 
On a similar note, I have a problem with the changer in my 98. It almost always won't read disc 10, no matter what CD is in there. Also it skips very easily, and once it skips a bit, it will act like that CD doesn't exist anymore until I eject the cartridge and put it back in. And finally, the worst part of all is that 90% of the time, when you press the eject button, it will go through all of the motions of ejecting the cartridge, but it will still be stuck in there, and now the head unit will think that you don't have any CD's in there at all, so until it decides to eject, I can't listen to any CDs. Is this a common problem with these? Is there some way of fixing it, short of replacing the entire changer? I'm at the point where I'm about to just pull the changer out, along with the factory head unit, and just put a regular old-fashioned single CD head unit in the car, but I would like to know if there's an easy/cheap fix for the changer.

I would say the replacing it with a functioning used unit or going aftermarket would be you best options...
 
Meh, if I'm going to do that, I'll just rip it out and put an aftermarket CD player head unit in. I actually prefer those to the changer in the trunk, because if I suddenly decide to listen to something, I can. I was just curious if its a common problem with them, or if there is an easy fix.
 
Lincoln had to go an cut the carpet so you can't just pull out the changer.... I'm getting carpet from Jamie to fix that though...
