Hello, I am a brand new member to LVC. However i have been checking in and reading some of the posts over the last year that I've had my 97 Mark VIII LSC. I must say that I have been impressed with the knowlage and eagerness to share information.
I have a problem that I think I already know the answer to but I'll take a shot here anyway.
I live in the Seattle area and about two weeks ago I had to drive to Bend, Or. This drive requires requires a trip over the Cascade's where radio reception can be spotty at best. So the wife and I loaded up the 10 disk changer and off we go.
As we started to lose the station in Portland we were listening to we fire up the CD changer. About 45 mins to a hour later It won't read a disk or two. as we go along it won't read more and more disks until it reaches the point
that it won't read any and now the disk mag. won't eject.
So, now I have a CD player that won't play and about $150.00 in disks stuck in changer. My radio works just fine. Any idea's?
I have a second problem thats a little anoying. My drivers side mirror has foggy section in the middle of it. Anyone know if the glass can be replaced or do I have to find a whole new mirror. If I can replace just the glass is the dealer the only place I can get it.

Thanks,
Mavrick

You're better off just finding a used mirror. The mirrors on your car are electrochomatic, meaning that they dim in response to intense light. If you replace the glass, you will lose that function.

Thanks for getting back me so quick. I knew my inside mirrior was electrochomatic or that it would dim on its own but I didn't know my outside mirror did and this is my outside drivers side that is fogged up. Thanks again.

Factory CD changers are a POS. After market 10 disks can be had for about $300.00 that work with the factory radio. To release your magazine, slide a thin knife blade in under the cartridge at about bottom center. It's about 3" back. This will release the cartridge.

Thank you 97benchmark. The disks are free, they are free at last. I have already started to look at other sound system options that do not included the factory unit.

Thank You,
Mavrick

I got a great set up off ebay... Paid $30 for the Changer and $11 for the head unit.

Both are JVC and the Changer is controled through the head unit not the FM converter.

JVC changer is a 12 disc changer and will play songs radomly on all 12 discs.

I really like my set up...

while you are looking check out a sat radio would not travel any where with out it have an xm and love it. yu will lose the signal from time to time but it will pick it up again. you don't have to chase stations and can get traffic info on it. well worth the money while traveling. jd
