I'm not sure whether it's just me, but I seem to sit awful low in the Mark compared to other cars. Raising the seat to the limit doesn't really get me up as high as I would like. Maybe the previous owner was somewhat beefy and depressed the seat. The motors seem to work in all directions, but they seem to let me raise the rear of the seat or the front of the seat, not the seat itself. I still feel like:

Thats about all you're going to get.

I guess it would be possible to get some metal spacers/washers along with longer bolts(fronts) to raise it, that is if the harness has enough slack. You might beable to get 1/2-1" before the rear bolts run out of room.

Might want to look into these...

I agree. Must be very short or something if you can't seem to get yourself up high enough in the seat.

I know you said you raised the back and the front of the seat but have you put a finger on each end on the switch and raised up on both at the same time? Probably not going to make any difference with getting you up high enough. I'm not into it anymore but you might want to resort to "Roll It Up, Light It Up, Smoke It Up, Inhale, Exhale.... :shifty:

Can't do both at the same time.

I feel like I am sitting up too high in mine! I wish I was nestled lower into the car. Like my Mustang

Mine sets low but I'm right at 5' 11" and I like being down low like you say your Mustang is. Can't stand to feel like I'm all up into a headliner but I have never set like that out of 3 Marks. All have been Gen 1's and the Gen 2 I test drove, felt like it was setting me up higher and I didn't like it.

My whole switch raises so really, I meant pull up on it from dead center but make sure the whole switch comes up. Not familiar with how Gen 2 seat switches work. Seems like they were pretty much the same but it's been a while since I test drove the 98 that sounded like something was grinding in the rear end.

I'm 5' 9", so although not towering, don't consider myself short either. Doubt my 170lbs is pushing me down. I do feel nestled in and the seat is very comfortable-just want to feel "taller in the saddle (or prairie tan)". Along the same lines, are the passenger seat bottom covers interchangeable? Might look for a used cover from a passenger seat to replace my cracking but not torn drivers seat cover.

Well, 1st & foremost. You used to own a Miata... Quite a different feeling when it comes to sitting in a car.

Then there's the other issue...

By the way I'm just busting your chops... At 5'9" your head should be just 3-4 inches from the roof at the seat's highest point. I'm 6'0" & I only have about one inch at the max height of the seat. If you are sitting way lower at max height then maybe the set track isn't taking you all the way up!

Covers aren't interchangeable. You'll notice the inside part nearest the console has a fabric type material. That and the plastic slides that hold it in place will be in the wrong position.

I'm 6' tall, and I feel snuggled in, when in my GT. I know what you mean about gen 2 cars.... I sat in a 99-up mustang and they have different tracks all together seat tracks.... with integrated seat belts and 6 way power. And it sits you up very high. Hate that

I max mine out. I'm 6'3" and my heads pretty darn close to the headliner. But I also have the seat back further back than most. Meh, either way I hate driving the damn thing.

Im only 5'6 or 5'7, my dads 95 mark has the seat basically to the floor and its fine. My 95 GT is all the way down and all the way back and I think its perfect. I sat in my neighbors 04 mustang and I hated it, no matter what way I put the seat it sucked.

In my 93 Tbird LX, the previous owner was a real lard-ass somewhere in the range of 400 lbs or more, and the lower seat padding was completely compressed! The motors were tired and moved slowly, but at least they worked! I didnt mind much since I am between 6'4" and 6'5" and really needed the extra inch or two of headroom but long trips would be rough on me. I eventually installed 95 Mark VIII seats in this car, and after getting the memory switch issues worked out and bypassing the lame automatic seat belts, it actually was a pretty nice mod!

On my Mark, both the driver and passenger seat motors that move the seat forward and backward dont work... on both you hit the switch and hear them click and they start to move then die within a second. Since my driver seat was stuck in a midget position, I had to place my feet firmly on the floor and press my back very hard against the seat while hitting the backwards switch so I could slowly work it back enough so I could sit somewhat comfortably. Still drives me absolutely insane though!

Everything else works on my Mark seats though with the exception of a leaky lumbar airbag on the drivers side. One of these days I'm gonna yank the seats out, and have a good look at the seat tracks so I can examine the motors and wiring.

I finally found my digital camera, so I should be able to get some pics up on here of this Mark beast I bought about 8 months ago. :D

I just went out and played with the switches again. Pulling up on the switch in the center does nothing. Pulling up on the back of the switch just makes it click. Nothing happens when I push down on the back of the switch. If I push down in the center of the switch, the front will lower. Looks like I've got a stuck motor someplace. Have to get under there (it's on the list) and figure out why it won't move. I'm sure that pulling up in the center is supposed to activate both the front and rear motors.
