Ok folks - Lets make this thread for Carlisle Pics and reports...

I'll kick things off. So far, this has been a terrible trip for me.

Starts off with my gears (I think) - Some gears are noisy, some arent. Guess which ones I have? So, I drove the trip from Chicago with this unholy noise coming from the rear end.

Next, once we left Chicago, there was a traffic jam. It took us an hour and a half to go 6 MILES! Fun Fun.

Ok, so we drive, and drive, and drive - the whole way with this ungodly noise coming from the rear so we couldnt even nap. We get to pittsburg to pick up Ray (1wykdmk8) and Mike's rear brakes are shot. So, after finding a NAPA, we change Mike's rear brakes, in the street in front of Ray's house.

Finally, we continue on. Now it starts to storm. Shawn was driving and I was trying to nap. She wasnt as confident driving 90+mph so we lost Mike, Ray and the gang as they keept on at that speed. No biggie, one would think.

Then, all of a sudden, My Mark just --- DIES --- no apparant reason, the engine just STOPS. So we coast to the side of the road. Seems like a fuel problem, but couldnt tell for sure because I dont have my fuel pressure tester with me. (the one tool I didnt have - hell, I had my cordless impact wrench with me) The fuel pump was running as we could hear it, so couldnt imagine what the problem was.

So we wait for Mike to come back. At the same time, being prudent, I call AAA and have them send a wrecker. Mike came back and brought us to our hotel and the wrecker took my car to their shop. This is Thursday Night.

Friday morning, I wake up after a blissful 5 hours of sleep, and check LVC. I discover the site is down, and has been down for a number of hours. So I spend the next hour trying to fix the server.

The rest of my morning is spent waiting to hear about my car. While I am waiting I get a few phone calls from members asking where our Tent is, when I will be there, etc. I dont know where the tent is as they dont send out maps prior, and I didnt know when I would be there because I didnt know when or if my car would be ready anytime soon.

FINALLY, after several waiting I am told they 'think' its the fuel pump. (its now about 1pm) The tell me they cant get a pump assembly until TUESDAY. Ugh. Ok, so it looks like my car isnt going to be shown at Carlisle and I am going to be stuck here until Wednesday. (BTW, We brought the Conti as well, - - jibit drive it up a few hours behind us - - so at least we werent without transportation)

So, I think - maybe one of the vendors has the pump I need at Carlisle. So I head over there.

First thing I notice, is our tent, and the non Mark VIII\VII lincolns are all 4 rows and down a hill away from the MK8 row. WTF were they thinking at the Carlisle Planning office? Why not put all the lincolns together in one area???

Ok, we'll get to that later. Now, after saying hello to everyone, We take a walk down to the Vendors area in search of my much needed fuel pump.

Ah, no pump, but all of a sudden LOTS of rain! Eh, that wasnt so bad. I get a call finally from the shop - after puling my gas tank, they realized it WASNT my pump, but a fuel line that burst. no problem, I can pick the car up in a few hours.

Soooo.... I get ready to leave Carlisle to grab a bite and then get my car. but first, I stop in and talk with the Carlisle staff. My God. It took me about half an hour to convince these people that they needed to reconfigure things, but FINALLY they agreed to move the edsels and the 'other lincolns' so all the lincolns could be together.

Ah, but another bad move on the part of Carlisle people - at least as I see it - they no longer have the VIIIs split between 1st Gen and 2nd Gen. That means my car is going against all the 1st gens in the modified class. I personally hadnt planned on going against driller and Mike - so on a personal level, im a bit dissappointed because they both have more done to their cars at present.

Bill for my car was $200 and change. I picked it up and had dinner with the gang.

SO - For anyone coming to Carlisle tomorrow, you'll find us all in the Lincoln's Section. My apologies to anyone who called me today asking for info, I just didnt have it.

The plan for tomorrow (Sat) is this. We are meeting for breakfast early at the Eat and Park on Rt11 in front of the Quality Inn. We will leave at 7:30 for the show. We will set up our tents. We have a big banner (black) that says LVC on it -so we should be easy to find. After the show, we'll all grab dinner somewhere - to be determined at the show.

I havent taken pic one as of yet, but will do so tomorrow so we can get them posted.

I have to say... I have so far enjoyed only one part of this whole trip so far- and thats being with my felow LVCrs - Mike, Jibit, Driller, Ray, Debi (I want that pic tomorrow Deb!) and the rest of the gang. Oh, I did see one LS with Lambo Doors - anyone know who it was? I was in the middle of things when I saw it and they were gone before I had a chance to say hello. After checking the list - I think it was Vivid LS - but am not sure, and hoping he comes back tomorrow when im not so damn nutty.

Tomorrow HAS to be a better day. Ok - rant over. Thanks for listening to my bitch session. :)

Fantastic time. Currently mapquesting it to see if its feasable for me to go back out tomorrow, idk though. it was a nice drive...a little too long for my tastes right before a 9 hour drive to NC though. It was great to finally meet everybody.

Hey JD, no prob man!!! Just glad I had the parts that Mike needed to get back on the road when you guys got to Picksburgh. Good lookin out, and hope we can all make it for next year too......should/could be even better.....NO BREAK DOWNS!!!!!! :D

And even if there is, hopefully someone has the necessary parts to get the rydes back on da road. I am running outta extra parts that I can do without....:D But who knows......I may still end up with extras.....as I should be getting the new motor for Barney sometime soon, and after the swap, I again will have extra parts......depending on what is wrong with the current motor....if anything.

Here are the few pix that I have, since I spent ALOT of time (not that I really expected it......since I had not a car there this year again :slam ) working on Mikes car polishing things up under the hood and replacing the tensioner that was makin SO much noise.....and to all the ppl that I talked to about my kit, the possible new customers and possible new LvC'ers.

Too bad too, both me and Mike were correct that it was the tubing going from the pump to the rest of the fuel system. Just that we thought that it might have simply come loose, not that the moron that put the pump in put in the WRONG kind of tubing. The kind that is soluble in gas......AH.....HELLO!?!?!?!?!?! :shifty: We prolly could have saved you the $200, but then again.....WE are not the Godfather are we??

Just glad that it was easy to fix, and was not the pump itself, so you did not have to wait until late Tues, or Wed before you could have left. :D

Hey I saw a 1994 Champaign Mark VIII in the drive home pics... Hmmmm I wonder who's that was?

Nice pics everyone...... maybe soon I'll get there.. but watch my daughter standing on the podium of the state track meet still out does the watching Mike win at Carlisle... But she only has one more year of High School Track and Field.

Humhum...hey! I don't think I did that bad! Either way your "lesson" from the back seat was one wild ride!! I swear both my hips are bruised from the seat belt! I think my Mark prefers going forward fast, not sideways fast! lolol

It was great meeting you Mr. Wilson, thanks again.

(Lovely....the only pic of me just so happens to be the one where BigDaddy has a grip on my panties that would make a 90 year old granny smile...)

As always, I got to meet a lot of LVCers and thousands of other people too! It was a blast, thanks for getting it all together BidDaddy!!!!

Sorry not many pics from me, too busy cleaning and juggling work! I will get what I got up asap!

SMOOCHES!

My daughter and I had a great time, once we got the mud off the tires. I found the best deals - a new pair of Gen II headlamps for $125 and 2 center caps for chrome 10 spokes - $1.00 ea - SWEEEEET!

My daughter got kinda board so we had to book a little earlier than I hoped and didnt get a chance to socialize...bummer.

That would be your car.....once again. I just hope it still runs after I got done driving it from Carlisle to Picksburgh.......:shifty:

That was me driving that in those pix.....and if you noticed the speedo in Mike's 98....you will understand......that was the slowest we went on the whole trip from Carlisle to Picksburgh.
