Okay so I got in my car today to go to the store and this happened..

I turn the key fully until all the beeps stop etc. like normal, then when I went to turn the key to start the car.. it barely turned over but it did start, however right after it started.. the horn/alarm goes on and he car shuts off. The alarm stays on until I click unlock button on my remote.

Now is this something the car does if the battery or alternator is bad? I don't know, but I know that no lights were left on etc. I do have a ground cable from the negative battery terminal connected to the chassis of my car, and a power cable from the positive battery terminal, connected to nothing. These cables are taped off with electrical tape at the ends so I know they aren't touching anyhing. They are jus there and waiting for my new amplifier, so I doubt these could be an issue.

Any help please would be appreciated, I got 3 hours until I have to be at work.

Battery. No question. But keep in mind this could also be alternator related, gotta check the voltage when the car is running.

Okay so I brought my battery to Autozone and they said the terminals were very dirty/corroded which probably wouldn't allow it to charge correctly so they cleaned them with wire brush and are charging it at the moment. My plans were to purhase a new battery and if it goes bad soon, then replace my alternator. But apparently I don't need to buy a new battery, so I suppose I will use this one and if it goes bad, purchase new alternator.

Alternator should be a rather simple procedure yeah? Or is it completely different than other vehicles? Is it just an unbolt, remove, and bolt new one on procedure? And re-install belt of course? Or do I have to remove 729 things and stuff? Thanks again and God Bless.

It's a 729 things job. You have to pull it out through the passenger side lower A arm. Takes about 4 hours the first time you do it, probably about 30 minutes the second time. Post up if you decide to do it yourself, there are tips to make the job faster and easier.

its more like remove bolts, swear, try to remove, swear, find hidden bolt, swear some more, turn this way, swear, turn that way, swear, hit it with a hammer while swearing, swear a little more then remove it, go to bed and wake up and do every thing in reverse.

the good news is that you will probably pay for the Alt by filling up the Cussing Jar a quarter at a time...

you will also have expended your vocabulary with new swear words that you made up along the way!
