Anyone had any trouble with this. Going along and all of a sudden starts mising and then cuts off like it just run out of gas. Then cranks over fine but wont start with first attempt. Second attempt a few seconds later it starts up fine and runs like it is suppose to. No more trouble. Doesn't throw a check engine light or anything. Makes me think for some reason fuel pump cut off. Am I correct in saying that the key is programmed to work the fuel pump. If so I wonder if there might have been a temporary glitch in the ignition reading the key or something. Or perhaps would the fuel pump be fixing to go clunk. It is my previous experience that when fuel pumps go bad they usually go instant and not like this. If it was the fuel pump going bad would it of throwed a check engine light, as I believe if it was just not temporarily reading the key that wouldn't throw a cel light. Any opinions or suggestions?

I have had a few occasions where my car was missing and did not throw a code. Had to run it for a couple of days, and it still took me "gunning" it, for the code to be displayed. Ended up being a bad coil, like always.

Not sure what would make it cut off like that. What conditions were about when it happened? Engine temp? speed? under acceleration? outside temp? rain?

have not had this with the LS, but the v6 in my one stang did that a couple of times. It would just cut out no matter what I was doing and then it would not restart for a bit. It turned out to be the crank position sensor.

Engine temp was normal, speed was around 60 holding steady just cruising along, no rain and all of a sudden starts sputtering just a second then cuts right off as if out of gas. Cranked over fine but would not start right back up. Waited a few seconds and tried again and it started right up as if nothing happened. Has ran fine all week with no problems at all since. No engine light or anything, but I wonder if it still may of stored some kind of code. I know it wasn't a coil cause I have replaced a one or two before and I know exactly how they act when that happens, besides it would take right many coils to give out at once for it to cut completelyt off and probably wouldn't start back up until they were replaced or would at least run like crap if it did. I put the spare key in the car in case it happened again I could try the other key to see maybe if there was some kind of glitch going on with the key.

I dont want to jack your thread but i also had this happen to me tonight. Going along and all of a sudden starts missing and then cuts off like it just run out of gas. the car would not start. I had it towed home checked with my predator tuner for the Lighting and no codes or CEL . Please help thanks, Mac

15A fuse in trunk fuse box was popped for fuel pump. i replaced it and it still does not start i am charging the battery now. It smells like gas from the tail pipes could it be flooded? the blown fuse makes me think it is an issue with the fuel pumps.
