Can't get my LS to Start

I had my first accident last night on my way to my girlfriend's house. I had a girl in a 1969 or so Ford Grand Torino try to pull a U-Turn in front of me. She didnt see me and I nailed her driver front fender area at about 50mph, we were both ok. My airbags didnt deploy, and i was ableto pull my car off the road, now it will not restart or anything. can i get any help plz??
she is at fault, and the washer fluid tank got torn right open. the car is getting power and everything turns on when the key is in the run position, but as soon as you try to start it nothing happens. i checked the fuel pump kill switch on the kick pannel and it didnt trip. any ideas on what to do so it might come back to life? Nthn under the car looks broken, and the guy who took it off the tow truck was able to put it neutral and it rolled and turned pretty good off the truck.
Also the force of me hitting her blew her tire out, and broke the steering on her car, and it pushed/threw the car to where it is setting in the picture. my car isnt as bad.

Sorry but I don't have a good answer besides telling you to give the car a closer inspection. Damage could be somewhere that isn't so obvious. I just want to say.... damn: The LS held up like a champ considering what it was up against. More importantly I'm glad your biggest concern is starting your car.
 
took the hit like a champ.
how bad is the "will not restart or anything"?
like nothing at all? lights? radio?
battery get knocked loose or something?
 
Yea, the book wasnt any help. and yea, the cruise was @ 50 and i hit the breaks a few seconds b4 impact. also my main worry this morning was to see if it was leaking nything, and since it isnt, i wanted to get it running so when we go to see wat its gonna run to fix it we can drive onto a trailer and nt hav to deal with winches. also according to the cop and tow truck driver, they said the air bags sld of deployed b/c of how the front end looks, but they didnt go off? the girl's dad was shocked when he saw wat i did to her car and how mine looked.
 
everything inside, and all but the pass turn signal and wats missing work. to me, it seem like when u turn the key, everything on the dash turns off, then once you let got, everything on the dash re-lights up
 
I'm assuming when you say "turn the key" and "let go" that you are referring to turning the key all the way to the start position. Be very detailed in what you say so when the LvC experts get on they'll be able to help you much easier.
 
yes, that is what i ment. Id put the key to "run", all the warning lights and that come on, then i wld hold it for a few seconds in the starting position and the dash dies out until the key it turned back to "run". and thank you for saying something b/c i've been on the site many times to trouble problems w/ my car. and this problem is beyond me.
 
Try flipping the inertia switch (button?) back and forth, hard.

Also have you tried to disconnect the battery and then reconnect?

What is the rest voltage of the battery?
 
where would that switch be located at? and i havent messed w/ the battery, the only thing i did to the battery was check to make sure it wasnt damaged and was still connected. im about 75% sure that the battery in the car now, is the original battery.
 
The switch is in the driver's side kick panel. I think it is technically a button, red. If it is popped out, the switch is engaged. You need to push it in.


In regards to the battery, it is probably time for a new one regardless (especially if it is original). Do you have a way of checking the voltage? Chances are, if at the crash scene - the car was with lights on or key turned to ACC for an extended period of time, including towing and whatnot - the battery is most likely suffering.

But like I said, if the witch is okay, I would look into the battery by checking voltage.
 
that button you are talking about never triped. after i hit the other car, mine was still running until i turned the key to off, her car died on impact, mine didnt. and once my car was off to the side of the road, i turned everything off except 4 the hazzards. and i was out there for like 2 and half - 3 hours and that was the onlything i had on. but i turned off the car, got my missing parts out of the road, and tried to restart the car, but all it did then is what it is doing now (that was right after the crash)
 
It looks like your wheel is pushed in from the pics. I would venture a guess that the starter might have gotten bumped and is shorting out somewhere. That would certainly explain the symptoms. Have you popped the hood or crawled under the car to see if the damage is worse then it looks?
 
Also the alternator is down under the car close to that area.

That Torino front clip is totaled.... Glad to see how well the ls took the impact.
 
I'll Check to see what the battery says. The wheel didnt take much of a hit, it only looks like that because of how the bumper got ripped causing the plastic wheel-well liner to be pulled out of place. I did pop the hood and look around, and 90% of what is messed up is in the area around where the washer fluid tank is (it got torn off the bottom mounting bracket), and everything under the car looks good, but i will give it a better look over to see if i can spot anything.
 
I think that you'll find that this was the last insult that your battery could take.
If it's original, replace it. Two hours of hazzards wouldn't run down a good battery. You should be able to jump start it to get it on the trailer.

Older airbag systems probably would have tripped for that, but the newer ones (like the LS has) are better about not deploying unless they are really needed. Clearly, they weren't needed (you weren't hurt). If they had blown, it would have totaled your LS.
 
the airbag Warning light for the front airbags was on when i left my house, it had been on and off for about 6 months. cld that be partly causing the problem? once my LS does go in for the repairs i'll see if they will replace the battery. I dnt hav to pay for the repairs (the cop cited the girl @ fault) and if it needs a new 1, now is the best time to get it.
 
IIRC there is a significant part of the wire harness that runs through that corner of the car (around the washer bottle) might want to make sure nothings cut or shorting... Hope they get everything fixed for ya
 
Yes, if the SRS light is on, the airbags will not work. It doesn't mean that they might not work. It means that the won't work.
 
so there was a fault somewhere in the system that kept them from going off maybe? and from the wires i can see, they look ok, (you can see the wires in a few of the pics)

The SRS is a complicated system. It takes a lot more than just looking at some of the wires to diagnose. The clockspring is a popular fault for causing SRS failure, but there are dozens of other possibilities. The SRS light flashes out a fault code when you turn the key on. That tells you where to start looking.

He was going 50 when he started braking.
Clearly, he was going a lot slower when he hit the other car.

I once drove over a small curb (about 5" high..... don't ask) and that tripped the fuel shut-off.
