Can Someone tell me what these are?

Ok, so I bought a Raybestos Brake Hardware kit becuase I was hearing some noise after changing all 4 brakes/rotors (well the dealership changed them) but I did have to go back and install this hardware kit myself :) . So this kit comes with eight small clip and I have no clue where they go. (see pic)....Please help....

(History) Within the last 2 months I had dealer replace both steering knuckles and a couple days before the appt I noticed there was this jingle noise coming from the R/L front suspension. Dealer says it was old hardware on the new rotors/pads I had them install. Anyways I ended up ordering some new pads (EBC Red) that have not come in yet thinking the pads were not right/tight fit; but then I thought the noise might have something to do with these 8 clips. They don't affect braking at all but they may be a spacer or something that will prevent the clanking!

I can not figure out what those are for... I'm racking my brain here and I'm coming up with nothing...

Wear indicators one for each pad...
 
I believe they clip to the end of each pad and hold it in form moving side-to-side....

When I initially installed the kit the noise went away but then came back after a couple of miles so these clips have got to be the answer to the noise. I'll go aheal and install them when those new pads get in.
 
Yeah the large ones are for pad placement/control

The small ones just clip to the pad itself, or rather the pad backing. It took a minute but I remembered swapping them over. I wish I could tell you where exactly they go, but my memory is not that good. I am however pretty sure there is a small indentation where a detent type numb fits in which lock them on so they don't fall off. If you look at the pads close enough, I'm sure you'll find what I'm talking about; I just wish I could remember the location of it.
 
Unfortunately, those small clips will not solve your noise problem. They are actually there for the soul purpose of making noise when your brakes are worn too much.

The only thing I can advise would be, make sure the pads are kind of a snug fit; if they wobble between those end clips, you're going to get pad oscillation which will cause your noise. If they do in-fact wobble, there is little you can do but buy new pads. If the wobble seems to be almost non-existent or you can not detect any movement... pick up some disk brake quiet dressing. It's almost like a glue; you clean the back of your pads, piston face and the pad mount opposite the piston. Liberally apply the dressing to the back of the pads, piston face and pad mount. Install everything back together and go for a drive. What this does is sort of "glue" the pads to their contact surface of the caliper. That prevents the tiny bit of oscillation which makes the noise.

Other than that, if the noise persists, it's a problem with the products (pads and or rotors), not the install.
 
OH, and if the tech's didn't do it... pick yourself up some disk brake grease... grease the slider bolts and put a bit of grease on the new end clips. This will prevent the caliper from seizing onto the sliders and the pad from seizing to the alignment clips.

Brake lubrication is a often neglected aspect of maintenance which will cost you time and money (removing seized slider bolts is a royal PITA, and buying a replacement caliper because the bolt broke off is never fun either!)

Since the brake job was fairly recent it has plenty of grease. I am surfing the net right now to try and find out where the larger clips should be placed. It's definately loose pads. They are snug but not tight enough to stop the bumping against the caliper when going over bumps in the road.

The larger ones are spring clips to keep the pads from making noise! If you hold a pad and one of the clips up together and turn them this-way-and-that, you'll be able to find an orientation that allows them to fit together. The springy bit presses against the caliper to keep the pad from moving. Good luck!!

I don't remember seeing a good spot to place that clip between the caliper and pad? Did I miss something?

A diagram or photo would work wonders for me right now!
