Cam Bearing Caps

Well, I am in the process of replacing secondary timing chain and tensioner. I removed the cam bearing caps and when I went to put them back on I then notices they have arrows and numbers on them. Anyone have any idea has to how they should go on?
 
You better make sure you get them back on 100% correct spots. They are line bored so you can't mix and match. If anything look on other head to check numbering there and copy on your side. I only have a V6 apart no V8 reference here. But my guess is arrows forward and #1 at front of head. Do yours have "I" and "E" right next to the # on them to show Intake cam caps and Exhaust Cam caps like my V6?
 
Only took off the intake ones. I agree that the arrows should be pointing forward and # 1 should be on the hood side. Thanks for the quick response.

Did you remove the head and get it checked out? When my secondary chain broke, it bent a couple valves. Might want to check that before you put it all back together and find out the hard way. Good luck.
 
I second that. I would have done a "Leak Down " test first on engine in car. Not a compression test.
 
Leak Down/Compression Test

We have done the compression test and we only get 60 psi on all cyclinders. What is up with that? Shouldn't it be at least twice as high?:(
 
If you have 60 psi on all 8 then it jumped time at the crank. When you do comp test is the throttle wide open and crank at least 3 full pumps? And also test the gauge on known good running car to make sure gauge is good. I don't know good comp on v8 but my v6 was 200+psi.
 
Did everything. The service manual says it's in time. Have checked and rechecked. Everything is where it should be.
