broke my fuel level float sending unit - will 97-98 work?

ok I guess no one reman or im having trouble finding a stock level float sending unit for the Gen I, but the Gen II is readily available for like 30 bucks. Anything shot of me finding a gen I in a junkyard or taking a road trip to hack up a parts car looks like im kinda in a bind.

so if anyone knows or has an extra? please let me know - I'll give max a try, but if the Gen II works just as well I can buy one right now at my local store.

totally different units from each other, it wont even come close to working. i'll check and see if i still have some 1st gen pump assemblies in the garage, i know i did.
