I know my Mark pretty dang good. So when I pull a strut tower cover and see something, I go WTF....

Please correct me if I am wrong, but did they just fuse a brake booster sensor? This is NOT a 93, its a 96 so I thought it went near the sensor itself, on the passenger side.

Let me know ASAP since its going in for an alignment tomorrow.

the fuse plugs directly into the pressure switch and the old plug plugs into the other end of the harness. with a 96 they shouldnt have gone anywhere near your master cylinder.

mind posting a pic of what you saw? im curious. (thinking they stuffed the harness down where ppl would think to look and zip tied it into place.)

I did post a pic! :) Does it not show up? I too thought it went near the switch. BY all accounts its a short 6 inch cable they add. In fact it looks like nothing above, yet they above is part of the recall. I checked the kit number.

its not showing up for me. ill check when i get home from work.

thats the recall alright, i see the pic and it wont fit anything up there, it goes in the pass ft of the wheel well, wonder what they plugged it into :shifty:

not only is it incorrectly installed but it might even be the wrong harness.

it should have gotten 8W7Z-14A411-C

it appears you have 4w1t.14a411.bc which likely translates to 4W1Z-14A411-BC

you really need to take this up with the service manager at the dealer and have it corrected. who knows how many other cars this "tech" incorrectly repaired.

I don't know what numbers are the right ones, but the info I got on the recall shows the 1L1Z-9F924-AA for 1996-1998 Mark VIII's, and XW7Z-9F924-BA for the earlier Mark's?

With the recall, if the switch is actually leaking, also involves a visual inspection for burnt connections and application of electrical grease on the Speed Control Servo if not found.

The car went in this morning for the what I am sure will be the most expensive alignment of its life. I told the "advisor" about the recall, he looked and agreed it was not done right. Most Fords do have it my the master cylinder, but like the Mark there are a few that have it in the wheel wells he said. They will look back at the ticket and see who did it, but he believes the tech that most likely did it was already terminated. He said it looked like it was placed in-line with the brake pedal travel switch.

However, if the tech was fired for something like this, I should have been notified. I wonder what would happen is a dealer takes in a vehicle and does the recall wrong and then later in it bursts into flames. Who would be liable?

9f924 is the switch kit for a leaking switch or for cars done before this new harness was released

if the recall was done incorrectly the dealer would be liable.

thats what i got, i grabbed one of the new kits as soon as they came out before the bean counters figured if they made a universal harness (the -c as you mentioned) and save the new switch for only the leakers. screw that jumper harness, hell the entire first batch of the old style jumper harnesses that were installed on the trucks had the fukkin ground side fused, so if the switch shorted out it still could catch fire!!! way to go Texas Instruments!!!

well at least they did SOMETHING to it :D lol........not like mine were they didnt do anything the first time :shifty:

Yup! Very important. If you can't do it asap, disconnect the switch.

I plan on calling up my local Ford dealer to get this done. As well as an alignment
