Well, it is all kinda in the title. I blew a spark plug in my 2002 LS v6, destroyed the coil and stripped the threads in the head.

I was doing some research and came across helicoil and time sert, but one thing I am sure is that with so many options I have no idea which is the smartest route to go.

Any suggestions?

This happened to me on my old car. There is a tool you can get that can re-tread the hole. You will then have to use some kind of seater to seal the plug into the hole. My mechanic said it would not last long, I did it myself and it lasted about 50k miles until I sold the car and probably is still ok. You should never remove the spark plug again once you do this though.

This or new motor... (or new car)

sorry yes not the block itself... although a 1st gen v6 head will be tough to find

Talk of a new Engine/Head/Car is kinda silly guys, that is not a solution to such a simple and silly problem.

I was asking if anyone has any experience and if they can offer some suggestions based on that.

As it stands I am going to get the Time Sert kit and give it a go.

That was your answer..... A new head, car or Heli-coil.

good luck..let us know if (when) it blows back out.

Id be more concerned on WHY it blew... pretty rare (IMO) for an LS head
