Blew my engine kicking a b18c powered civic's ass with a stock v6 5 spd LS 130k miles

 Does any1 know the difference between 00-02 LS V6 engines and 03-up LS V6 engines? Does mine have VVT?? Will 03-up cams work in my 00?

Your engine does not have VVT. Would cams from that engine work in yours? Great question. Call a dealer parts department, 800-866-1520 ext 236 , where Maxx, Mrzeee on this forum, works. I'd assume no, not the same cams. Your engine damage was limited to only the cams?

Cams, shims and lifters. I had to take both heads out, and the oil pan to clean it up cause I had metal pieces everywhere. Now I need the cams, lifters and shims.
Ive tried to find some aftermarket cams with no luck and to be honest I cant afford dealer prices so I dont know how long Im gonna have my car like this.:(

You can get custom grind cams for your car. Now, this is a perfect time to port and polish those heads. Think about it, when's the next time you'll open that motor again? Or you can save all the hassle and get a new motor, personally, I'd build that top end and call it a day.

Believe me Id love to! but this is my only car and right now I cant afford that kind of stuff, I just want my car back asap! Once my dad n I open the new garage then I'll build a N/A engine but not right now, I thought about the cams cause I need cams anyways! Where can I get those cams ur talking about?
Thanks!

If you've got metal pieces in the oil pan it's not a good sign. They didn't come from the top end- you may have damaged a piston/rod/crank, and the valve damage may have come from the piston slappin them. Can you see a clear outline of the round piston head on the rectangular combustion chamber dome on the bottom of the head you pulled? This would indicate the piston coming loose feom the crank or rod and being in the wrong position when the valves opened. Puting in more agressively ground cams without replacing the pistons with the ones from an '03+ might cause some problems-- the '03+ pistons have a relief in them to keep the piston from contacting the open valves from the longer duration in the open position from the VVT (VVT is not mechanically activated, so it won't work on an '00-'02).

Actually the mettals found in the oil pan are shims, pistons are just fine everything thank God is just fine, Im surprised how good are the cylinders, Im posting pics in a couple of minutes.
So if I wanted to have VVT what would I need?

Freaking pictures came out huge! Sorry guys.

OK down to business... The bad part...

REALLY BAD, the scratches on the head itself wont affect the operation of the cams at all but... knowing they r there hurts...

This is the only piston that touched a valve...

The shims are not that bad, only 21 are broken, not a big deal! :p
On the left the good ones, on the center the unbroken lifters with cracked shims and a lifter with no shim (shim we never found! lol) on the right the broken lifters.

I hate to break the news to you, but that engine is not going to work for long without a complete tear-down. Since you removed the oil pan, do yourself a favor and remove a few bearing caps to inspect the wear and scratching of the crankshaft journals. At a minimum, you should pull all the pistons and the crank and the oil pump and get all of the metallic debris out of there. To assume that those cam followers didn't pollute that engine while they were self destructing is selling yourself short. If money is an issue, don't skimp on doing the job right. Even if you don't re-ring, or replace all bearings, simply inspecting and cleaning is the minimum. All that said, I don't see how the metal grindings did not make it into your oil supply and get pumped throughout the engine for a short, but destructive amount of time. Be careful with your decisions.

Ok, to remove the oil pan it a real pain in the butt! I had to push the tranny up, take the rack and pinon out, leave the crossmember losen, take off the a/c compressor, and the alternator. Also to get to the distribution chain we had to take off the power steering pump and hydraulic fan pump off. I also had to take this out before being able to pull out the pan.

Yeah thats what my dad and I are discusing! He has this neumatic tool to clean all the oil conducts and nothing came out from them so we asumed no piece of metal made it thought the bearings.

Also, what would I need to swap a 03-up engine?
