Blacking it out! Maybe?

As far as the window trim, 3M makes a gloss black pinstriping tape in the proper widths. I've also seen a cheaper solution called Black Out Tape, but you would have to trim it to the proper width.

any more specific info on that 3m tape(serial num)? that would just be "taped" on top of the chrome? kinda asking the obvious here but w/e. not sure i would like that myself. anyone have a close up of this?
i had thought about removing that window chrome surround and replacing it entirely with a black or painted one.
((if it survives) i kind of want to be able to keep the chrome set incase i decided i dont like it blacked out)
do they make a black surround for an 02LSe (not sure if the window surrounds are different, but just in case).

They don't make a black trim kit. Suppose you could see how bad flm wants to rape you on a set, but a member here ( 02LSE96LSCsomethingorother ) used the 3m tape successfully. That or the blackout tape is the route I would take.

Got the Rear of the car done last night.

Dont laugh at the bubbling tint its getting fixed...

Turned out pretty good I thought. Scuffed the rear surround and used auto-touch up spray in Mazda Black which looks nearly identical to our ebony as far as I could tell. Still pondering the 3rd brake light.

Tonight, Grille which looks to be a pain to scuff and tape. and the front turn lenses. And the side trim chrome.
I measured and went to the parts stone and it appears that the sizes are 5/16 for the top, 7/16 for the bottom, and 1/2 for the rear window upright.
Went tot he auto parts store and in their catologue they had the pinstriping in 1/8 inch increments and 150 foot rolls. So I would probably get a roll of 1/2 inch and have to trim it all but the worst part is its 48 dollars a roll (YIKES!) So I think Ill stop at the local body shop and see if they have any on had before I shell out that much for something I will probably screw up.

Found about 5 burned out bulbs too, the dash, it lies.

what did you use for the tail light tinting?
my tails are already tinted(not sure if they as dark as yours??) i was looking at the lamin-x website to get some for the reverse lights and possibly going darker on the tails again while trying a led conversion at the same time. (hopefully it dont take more than some patience, resistors, and a few xtra led's to spot my f*ups)
jw on how you felt about their products if that is what you used?
was lookin at the charcoal, what else would u put on a black car :)
1st:sunlight from behind(for the most part)
2nd: lights on
3/4: sunset

O and back to the topic of this thread: blacking it out. i wonder how it would look with the top part left chrome and the lower part black or vise versa??
would be killer if you could take pics of the set up with just some of the pieces painted during your project.
Or if someone can point me in the direction of someone who has this done that would be nice to check it out.
(im not great with photo shop but had thought about testing the looks with the side pic of car)
as well photoshopping a few rims i had been lookin into.
any thoughts on them?
18" helo black

legacy RVM 22's (i believe they offer it in a 18 or 19)

Bring a Mac

I have a Mac but why beat on that when I have a school computer that would rather take the abuse like my b!tch..

ugh.

macs are like the mercedes of the computer world. nice to look at but expensive and a bitch to work on. I build up custom computers and pc is the way to go for customizing and and gaming.

Gaming? I have two kids. No tine for gaming. Tell me which one will get less viruses from normal Internet surfing (online forums, email, midget porn, etc.)

with the proper antivirus software and not clicking on everything you see you wont get viruses.

now if you stay all day looking at pron well thats different.

Or you could build up a pc and run a linux distro. Theres also a hacked osx that can be ran on pc
if you really want to use it.

LOL...i can see it now.

your tabs are (LVC) (email) (pron) (LVC) (pron) (pron) (LVC)

You have a very nice car Geldtron way to make me jealous! :p

I went the cheap route and went with VHT Nightshades for the tint. one pass. Ill get some with the lights on here tonight. It worked out very well with all but one reverse light which I got a run in and tried to wipe with the rubbing alcohol I used for prep. Most wiped off but some seemed to fill in the pores of the lense and after I cleaned and re-sprayed it didnt turn out quite as smooth as the others. The other lenses look like a factory job (or at least to my tasteless eye, Im sure someone will disagree lol). I was satisfied with how it turned out but from what I hear that Lamin-x is the way to go (especially with a nice ride like yours) since you get the EXACT same shade on everything, and its removable. I sprayed my taillights hanging next to eachother and held a trouble light behind them to try to get them as close as possible and think I did well.

With the half chrome half black idea I like where your going but with something like that I wish there was a body line to follow ya know? It might look kinda funny just to pick a line somewhere on the surround? I dunno I guess until I see one.
On the same though someone with a base model doing a vertical Half Black and Half Chrome on their surround/Front and rear bumper chrome/Grille in a mirror image style might look kinda badass...

I was thinkin for rims I might go with 18” Sacchi S245 wheels which I seen SPSully had on his LSOTM winning ride. THey look pretty nice and I think the extra sidewall would go better with the well maintained roads in northern minnesota vs a 19 or 20.

only one pass??? damn thats dark. they look darker than mine, which have like 10 layers at around 5" or so away (not the tails in the avatar)
