Need some help with the best place to Buy coils for a 2002 LS V8. I know there are some super cheap coils on Ebay and Amazon, but I want some that have decent quality.

I read and searched here but am a little confused because either the ones that were recommended were no loner availible, or there were newer upgraded coils.

So where can I find 8 decent coils at a good price? Thanks.

You can't!

just get the OEM DG529's for your LS V8 and be done with it, you wanna play, you gotta pay.
you could go with some Accel's but you won't be able to get the coil covers back on and you'd need the custom hold downs.

you could look on Amazon or eBay as well if you'd like just be sure they are OEM Motorcraft numbered and packaged.
be sure to get the OEM plugs as well and that you cap them correctly (very important)

If you find oil in the plug wells, you are best advised to replace the VCG's (including the inner O ring gaskets) before putting those new parts in.

you can search this forum for all coil COP related, it's been covered a hundred times over. Member "Lincolnlogs" did an amazing write up on it.

I've seen a couple of sales up on ebay for all 8 for around 350-400, which isn't bad (I know, I know it sounds bad) but the reason I say it isn't bad are you're options are as follows: getting lucky on ebay or some other shady site, or the dealer. Dealer near me charges $91 PER coil - you do the math. Next time I need coils I'll be pulling the trigger on the 350 ebay, if it's available.

Good call, was unable to find them a few weeks ago. Maybe I should stock up just incase.

Good code to share ... always expires too fast by the time re-ordering more parts 30+ days later.

Hey Big....didn't you read the write up on modifying the ACCELs to be able to go under the covers without the custom clamps....that's what's going on mine next time.

Yeah, now that you mention it, I recall reading that, forget who and how though, I recall it was some serious modifications to the top of the coils or boot was it ? And then not to forget the wires in the clips have to come out and polarity reversed. I'm still interested in that much later as I have these still new DG529's and my Visteon's to burn through first.

Are VISTEON part # 60-1008, a correct coil for a 02 LS V8 sport ?

Yeah without double checking anything here, that number looks about right for the V8 but you can't get them anymore, inventories have been depleted and they are no longer being manufactured.

I have accel coils and the custom hold downs for sale! pm me for details if your interested

If I didn't already purchase just the custom hold downs from Hite Performance I very well would grab the set from ya.
Those the ACCEL 140032 Mustang COP's ?

Hmmm ... interesting, cause you are only 50 minutes away or so, trouble is I have enough coils for the time being ... would have been good for a visit.
post them in the for sale section, they should go in no time, it's the cheapest alternative and if you're selling them with the 8 hold downs, who ever picks them up is set.

The Accel coils are also reported to deliver a little better then OEM, seen some mention quicker response and such. GL with sale. I'd grab them from ya if I didn't already have overstock.

----EDIT: BTW, anyone wondering why I wouldn't just only buy them when I need them, is because here in CANADA as an LS owner, we get raped on the markup costs on parts and when we order cheaper online from the US, it's 10+ days delivery time. Thus a few common LS parts stock piled. ie: "Preppers"

I've had good luck with BWD coils from the local parts stores. I have 3 of them in the LS now.

Do you have the link for the Mod write up? I could not find it.

Here's the link to Kumba's write up if you want to do the mod which allows you to put the coil covers back in place.
